Requirements
  • The candidate must have 7 or more years of professional software development experience and a proven record of shipping high-impact code.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement complex, frontend-heavy solutions and maintain light Node.js APIs that are scalable, high-performing, and resilient across Yahoo's commerce verticals.
  • Deeply integrate AI-driven product insights into user-facing flows to create a seamless and personalized shopping research experience.
  • Implement AI-assisted development workflows to rapidly prototype and ship major features, and review, validate, and optimize AI-generated code for quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Partner with designers to translate creative visions into elegant, functional code while solving frontend constraints.
  • Tackle the squad's most difficult technical bugs and performance bottlenecks and deliver user-friendly engineering solutions.
  • Act as a senior technical resource for the squad by sharing expertise in modern frameworks and experimenting with emerging AI tools.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Designers, provide technical and product opinions, and own the end-to-end user experience and design integrity.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience building high-traffic e-commerce or shopping research platforms.
  • Experience with GraphQL, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services, and implementing AI features in user-facing frontend flows.
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Datadog, or Prometheus.
  • A product-focused approach to engineering with a commitment to using AI to maximize personal and team impact.

Yahoo raises $1.6B with 11% bond yield as Apollo-backed firm refinances debt

Yahoo has raised $1.6 billion in high-yield financing to refinance debt from Apollo Global Management's acquisition of the company. The deal comprises a $700 million term loan B priced at 6.5 percentage points over the US benchmark and $900 million in junk bonds due in 2031 at an 11% yield. The 11% yield represents one of the highest-yielding corporate debt offerings this year, significantly above the 7.2% average for existing B-rated bonds. The refinancing replaces loans from Apollo's 2021 $5 billion buyout of Yahoo from Verizon Communications, which were priced more favourably at 5.5 percentage points over benchmark. Moody's Ratings noted concerns about Yahoo's reliance on desktop traffic and competition from larger players in search advertising, though the deal attracted strong investor interest amid broader high-yield issuance.
