Requirements
  • Qualified to survey and assess the anatomy and pathophysiology of the heart and great vessels by the use of cardiac ultrasound in the adult and pediatric patient.
  • Must possess the technical knowledge and creative ability to manipulate and use ultrasound instruments to produce clinically useful diagnostic information.
  • Must possess knowledge and background in ultrasound physics, instrumentation and clinical utility.
  • Must possess knowledge of anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics and pathology of the cardiovascular system of the adult.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)-Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)-Required
  • Must acquire registry within 6 months of employment. Must be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International exam.
Responsibilities
  • Performs adult and pediatric trans-thoracic echocardiograms, trans-esophageal echocardiograms, and stress echocardiograms.
  • Maintains competency in adult trans-thoracic, stress and tee, pediatric echo, special procedures, and contrast echo.
  • Participate in research projects, preliminary reporting to cardiologists.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate degree is preferred.
  • Cardiac experience is preferred.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)-Preferred.
  • Specialty certification in adult echocardiography or pediatric echocardiography preferred.
