Lumentum Holdings is seeking an experienced Sr. Principal engineer to drive our high-speed ASIC, RFIC, and optoelectronic system strategy. In this critical role, you will define and lead the company strategy on DSPs, RFICs (TIA, Drivers), and optical systems; and connect this strategy into Lumentums’ world class optoelectronics components. You will work our partners, customers, and internal teams to define ASIC strategies that create differentiation along our product lines that meet market timing, cost requirements, and customer expectations. The successful candidate will also drive initial product definition and product architecture making tradeoffs that balance technical risk with financial returns and time to market.
Key responsibilities:
- Owns company wide DSP, RFIC, and ASIC strategy.
- Works closely with current ASIC partners to create differentiation for Lumentum products.
- Drives long term DSP and ASIC engagements for all forward looking products.
- Leads the architecture, design, and initial product definition for Lumentums’ early-stage product concepts, making the appropriate tradeoffs between technical and business risk.
- Acts as company authority on communication protocols (ethernet, PCIe) and communication hardware standards (UCIe, BoW, SerDes).
- Represents Lumentum at various standards and industry leading events.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of experience in high-speed optoelectronics and ASIC design, with a proven track record of successful product development and deployment.
- Extensive experience with high-speed circuit design, including RF, analog, and mixed-signal circuits.
- Strong understanding of optical components such as lasers, photodetectors, modulators.
- Excellent knowledge of photonics / electronics high speed interfaces and ICs for photonics (TIA, Drivers, DSP).
- Strong understanding of high speed electrical and optical systems and software
- Experience with data communication protocols (Ethernet, PCIe, etc)
- Experience engaging with various optical and electrical standards (UCIe, Ethernet)
- Strong understanding of high speed SerDes technology.
- Excellent understanding of different modulation formats such as PAM4, Coherent.
- Excellent written, presentation, and communication skills.
Education
- MS, PhD, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related field.
