Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Graduate of Joint Advanced Warfighting School, School of Advanced Military Studies, School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, School of Advanced Warfighting, Maritime Advanced Warfighting School, or a Senior Service College equivalent program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of joint strategic planning experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of planning experience at a Geographic or Functional Combatant Command Headquarters.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of joint operational planning processes including Mission Analysis, Course of Action Development, Course of Action Analysis (Wargaming), Course of Action Comparison, and Decision.
  • Experience coordinating with interagency and multinational partners.
  • Possess and maintain a minimum security clearance of Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information.
Responsibilities
  • Organize, direct, and coordinate planning activities across joint planning teams and operational planning teams.
  • Provide analyses, recommendations, and draft products for joint planning team and working group review and approval.
  • Support the development of orders, analysis, estimates, and briefings for United States Central Command leadership, primary staff, Department of Defense, Interagency, Allies, Coalition members, and partner nation leaders.
  • Assist with evaluations and recommendations to respective Divisions and Branches regarding the joint combatant command level planning process.
  • Conduct orderly handovers of plans for order development to those tasked with execution of the operation or campaign.
  • Provide situational awareness and rationale to leadership regarding key decisions for a coherent transition from planning to execution.
  • Facilitate coordination across working groups, administrative support staff, components, and international partners in support of plan development, meetings, and conferences.
  • Manage working groups by contributing to reports, conducting analytical and statistical research, and providing alternative solutions and assessments of long-range impacts.
  • Coordinate Freedom of Information Act requests and Mandatory Declassification Reviews according to legal standards and United States Central Command directives.
  • Search files controlled by CCJ5 for information relevant to declassification and advise on the Freedom of Information Act and Mandatory Declassification Review Program.
  • Serve as the Administrative Manager for a portion of the embedded team, including reviewing and approving timesheets for accuracy.
  • Support and encourage professional development and career growth for planners, including conducting performance reviews.
  • Support the Site Lead to address performance challenges and interface with headquarters as needed.
  • Represent the contract and provide high-level reporting to headquarters.
