Requirements
  • Five to seven years of multi-state transportation management experience in the food distribution industry.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Federal Motor Carrier Rules and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of related Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with an onboard computer system.
  • Experience with third-party maintenance vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible or extended schedules as needed.
  • High school diploma.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate route drivers to ensure maximum performance in product delivery, service, and customer relations.
  • Ensure customer complaints related to in-store service and delivery are investigated and resolved.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality assurance standards.
  • Assist in developing annual cost-saving initiatives aligned with the company strategic plan.
  • Assist in managing the department’s annual operating budget and cost analysis.
  • Assist with hiring, supervising, scheduling, and terminating personnel.
  • Schedule, supervise, and direct transportation personnel.
  • Monitor driver performance weekly through Motive and Ortec and counsel drivers on performance issues and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure personnel understand and implement safety and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Manage fleet utilization and track vehicle and equipment status, including monitoring out-of-service equipment and holding service providers accountable for repairs identified through Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports and preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation hours-of-service requirements by providing immediate feedback and taking corrective action when issues are identified.
  • Work with the Safety Manager on safe-driving techniques, use the Motive artificial-intelligence camera system to identify risky behaviors, and support proper-lifting and required Department of Transportation regulatory training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
