Requirements
  • This position reports to Team Rubicon International's Director of Operations and Crisis Innovation. This position is remote and will work closely with (and in accordance with guidance from) Chief and Deputy Chief Medical Officers to ensure the professionalization and readiness of Team Rubicon's capacity to deploy real-time, trauma-related mental health care to communities affected by disasters and crises
  • Completed Bachelor's degree with a Masters (or higher) degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling or an MD with a completed residency in Psychiatry
  • Active licensure as a registered nurse, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, MD, or as a Clinical Social Worker, Psychologist, or Mental Health Professional at the independent practice level
  • Intermediate or advanced somatic or mind-body training completion
  • Psychological First Aid training completion
  • Demonstrated experience practicing in austere/challenging international environments within the past 5 years, preferably in a humanitarian or complex emergency setting
  • Demonstrated experience with emergency medicine or disaster response will be considered
  • Savvy international traveler with experience in multi-leg trips through foreign airports
  • US or Canadian passport with six months validity
  • Meet WHO vaccination requirements, including COVID-19
  • Fluency in Spanish, French,Portuguese, or Arabic preferred
  • This is full-time; in-office and based out of Los Angeles, CA,and offers a 4/1 hybrid work schedule where employees can opt to work from home one day a week determined by team collaboration and business needs (relocation expenses not provided)

Responsibilities
  • Advise Team Rubicon on developing mental health services for individuals affected by disasters and crises in accordance with WHO EMT minimum standards and industry best practices
  • Evaluate applicants who apply to support Team Rubicon international's Operations and Programs within a mental health capacity
  • Advise deployed medical professionals in accordance with Team Rubicon's policies, procedures, and objectives
  • As requested, train mental health and other providers in evidence-based, ethical procedures regarding Psychiatric First Aid, SABRE, and other mental health interventions
  • As requested, be prepared to communicate Team Rubicon's mental health aims with a diverse group of stakeholders including impacted community members, WHO, USAID, fellow NGO's, governments, and existing/potential donors
  • As requested, engage in planning, debrief, and support meetings for Mobilization and Operations
