Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, recreation, or a closely related human service field.
  • A minimum of three years of camp or youth-serving experience showing progressive growth in responsibilities.
  • Successful completion of a Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse is required for employment.
Responsibilities
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate camp programs that meet the needs and interests of target populations and ensure safe, quality delivery.
  • Remain current with information on the developmental needs of youth.
  • Annually seek and analyze input from youth, families, and staff regarding program and staff quality, safety, and enjoyment.
  • Develop and implement crisis and risk management procedures.
  • Design and ensure delivery of programs and activities appropriate to the camper population.
  • Develop and maintain the programming schedule at the assigned facility.
  • Provide relevant programming to Youth Ranches residential programs.
  • Oversee financial management and assist in fund development operations to support annual funding and long-term goals.
  • Develop and monitor the camp operations budget.
  • Negotiate user-group agreements and contracts with agencies throughout the state.
  • Assist in developing and designing long-term fundraising strategies for the camp program and facilities.
  • Design and implement a marketing plan to increase camper attendance and camp usage.
  • Prepare and analyze enrollment trends.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Ensure partnerships are in place to utilize the camp year-round.
  • Implement human resource management practices to recruit and retain seasonal and year-round staff.
  • Recruit staff based on camper enrollment and program management requirements.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal and year-round staff.
  • Manage property development and maintenance needs and identify future needs.
  • Conduct annual assessments of property and maintenance needs.
  • Provide administrative guidance to maintenance staff.
  • Prepare annual and long-term property plans.
  • Assist with on-site management of facility improvements and maintenance, including the bid process and vendor selection.
  • Ensure stewardship and care of vehicles assigned to the program.
  • Oversee camp operations including food service, programming, business functions, camper and staff supervision, and health care.
  • Oversee food service through supervision of the Food Service Manager and review of the food service program.
  • Secure sufficient health care staff coverage and implementation of the health care plan.
  • Develop and oversee business management functions, including financial record keeping and office operations.
  • Oversee database management for campers, families, alumni, and donors.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external groups to enhance camp operations.
  • Maintain sufficient knowledge of camp operations and business processes to manage during staff leave or vacancies.
  • Ensure licensing, accreditation, agency policies, procedures, and required documentation are met.
  • Maintain American Camp Association accreditation standards and documentation annually.
  • Prepare materials for the Agency Quality Assurance program.
  • Monitor Health Department and water system compliance.
