Requirements
  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
  • A master's degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.
  • A current Ohio registered nurse license is required.
  • At least three years of registered nurse clinical experience in a relevant care setting is required.
  • At least two years of management experience in a relevant care setting is required.
  • Current certification in nursing administration or the area of clinical expertise is required, or certification must be achieved within the eligibility timeline.
  • Prior leadership and management experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of professional health care providers and cultivate collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect.
  • Create and facilitate an environment that supports the nursing professional practice model.
  • Provide patient care and supportive services directed toward positive patient care outcomes, patient involvement in plans of care, improved service levels, reduced hospitalization length, and decreased costs.
  • Oversee, plan, organize, manage, and evaluate patient care operations for designated areas on a 24-hour basis as needed.
  • Plan and develop short-, mid-, and long-term goals and processes to improve unit operations.
  • Evaluate achievements and problems in meeting operational goals.
  • Manage, guide, coach, and evaluate the work performance of patient care staff.
  • Promote and ensure collaboration with patient-care departments and areas.
  • Develop, administer, and manage unit budget plans.
  • Identify, plan, and initiate cost-saving initiatives.
  • Participate in developing evidence-based standards of practice.
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient care and organizational processes.
  • Identify and correct factors contributing to problematic outcomes.
  • Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care, nurse triage, patient education, care coordination, and procedural support in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
