Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data strategy roles.
  • At least 6 years of experience working in capital markets with hands-on exposure to multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, foreign exchange, and commodities, plus a deep understanding of capital markets trading workflows, the trade lifecycle, and market data structures.
  • Demonstrated people-management experience with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • The ability to operate at a senior level, influence decisions, and manage relationships with executive stakeholders.
  • Expert proficiency in conceptual, logical, and physical data-modeling methodologies and experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures for cloud-native data lakes and lakehouses.
  • Hands-on experience with Financial Information Exchange communication protocols.
  • Advanced SQL and Python skills for data analysis, profiling, and transformation.
  • A solid understanding of extract, transform, and load/extract, load, and transform patterns, data-pipeline orchestration, and real-time data ingestion.
  • Working experience using artificial intelligence tools to accelerate data analysis, modeling, mapping generation, and productivity improvements.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze cross-asset data from internal RBC systems and external independent software vendor sources to understand data lineage, relationships, and gaps.
  • Design and implement standardized, scalable data models that serve as the foundation for a unified presentation layer organized by asset class and product.
  • Engage early in project lifecycles to conduct data-gap analysis and identify quality issues before they propagate downstream.
  • Partner with upstream source teams to define data contracts, track remediation efforts, and ensure sustained data-quality improvements.
  • Liaise with adjacent teams to diagnose, adjust, and resolve data-system issues across the trading-data ecosystem.
  • Use generative artificial intelligence tools and techniques as the primary methodology for data exploration, profiling, pattern detection, and model prototyping.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports to adopt artificial-intelligence-first workflows in their daily analysis and modeling activities.
  • Drive rapid proof-of-concepts using cloud data-lake resources to demonstrate value and validate approaches for front-office requirements.
  • Contribute to the broader data strategy for the QTS division and influence architectural decisions across the platform.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders and independent software vendors to establish data connectivity with RBC, obtain sample data for analysis, and remediate data gaps against RBC requirements.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with data from major financial independent software vendors and market-data providers.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence and machine-learning techniques for data analysis, data-quality assessment, or automated model generation, including prior hands-on use of generative artificial intelligence tools such as Copilot in data-engineering or modeling workflows.
  • Knowledge of regulatory data requirements including MiFID II, CFTC, and Dodd-Frank and their impact on data architecture.
  • Experience with data-visualization and business-intelligence tools such as Power BI and Tableau for building executive-facing data products.

RBC beats profit estimates as capital markets, wealth management shine. August 27, 2026 Royal Bank of Canada (TSX:RY) beat analyst estimates in the third quarter, powered by strength in capital markets and wealth management, extending a trend seen across Canada's largest lenders this earnings season. RBC reported third-quarter profit of $6.02 billion, up from $5.41 billion a year earlier, with gains also coming from commercial banking. Profit amounted to $4.23 per diluted share for the quarter ended July 31, up from $3.75 a year earlier. On an adjusted basis, the bank earned $4.28 per diluted share, compared with $3.84 in the same quarter last year. Analysts had expected a profit of $4.08 per share and $18.14 billion in revenue, according to LSEG Data & Analytics. Revenue for the quarter came in at $18.54 billion, up from $16.99 billion a year earlier. Provision for credit losses totalled $1 billion, up from $881 million a year earlier. Jefferies analysts said the results reinforce their view that RBC's diversified business mix is a key driver of its premium return on equity, and that favourable conditions for wealth management should continue to support the bank's growth and valuation. The brokerage noted RBC's ROE rebounded from a second-quarter slowdown, helped by strong capital markets revenue and some credit allowance releases, widening its lead over peers to 18.1% against a group average of 16%. Jefferies also pointed to domestic loan growth that outpaced the peer average. While cautioning that investors should not fully pay up for the capital markets contribution, Jefferies said the quarter demonstrated the broader strength of RBC's platform across segments. The brokerage added that Canadian bank valuations remain close to stretched territory, and that earnings will need to grow into current multiples, but called RBC's results a compelling case relative to its peers. Canada's largest banks exceeded earnings estimates as capital-markets divisions posted a 35% year-over-year gain. Royal Bank of Canada and Toronto-Dominion Bank reported fiscal third-quarter results Thursday, with Toronto-Dominion's capital-markets unit achieving record net income of C$743 million, up 87% from last year. Royal Bank's capital-markets earnings reached C$1.54 billion in the three months through July. Toronto-Dominion's adjusted earnings per share of C$2.77 surpassed the C$2.48 analyst estimate. All six major Canadian banks beat consensus forecasts this week, benefiting from strong capital-markets performance and contained credit loss provisions. Imprint secures $2B debt funding with AAA-rated ABS upsized to $500M on strong demand

Imprint Payments has secured $2 billion in new debt funding capacity since April 2026, including $1.5 billion in warehouse capacity and a $500 million AAA-rated asset-backed securitisation. The co-brand financial and loyalty platform added $1 billion through a new warehouse facility with Bank of Nova Scotia, Royal Bank of Canada, and TD Bank Group, whilst doubling an existing facility from $500 million to $1 billion with Citi, Mizuho, Truist, and HSBC. Imprint's second ABS transaction attracted $2.35 billion in investor orders, representing 4.7x coverage, prompting an upsize from $300 million to $500 million. The transactions reduce Imprint's cost of fund margin by 23% and diversify its funding sources. The company works with brands including Booking.com, H-E-B, and Shell.
