The Billing team at GEICO oversees the tools, infrastructure, data, reporting, analytics, and services essential for delivering seamless billing experiences to internal users, end customers, and partners. Our billing platform functions as the backbone for managing financial transactions and customer interactions, enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction while supporting strategic growth and ensuring compliance.
We are seeking an accomplished Distinguished Software Engineer with a wealth of experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale applications and distributed systems. As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in managing and transforming GEICO’s core billing platform. This platform encompasses a wide range of components, including a core billing engine, invoicing system, commissions management, collections, payment processing, CRM integration, subscription management, credit control and dunning management, as well as reporting and analytics. In this role, you will lead the re-architecture of our platform from the ground up, with a focus on enhancing scalability, efficiency, and overall system performance.
Develop and articulate the overarching technology vision and architecture for the Billing Platform, ensuring it aligns with the organization’s strategic goals and future growth.
Provide strategic technical direction and guidance for projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and scalability requirements.
Drive the development of new technologies, products, or processes, and tackle complex technical challenges with innovative solutions.
Create and maintainthe technical architecture of the Billing Platform, ensuring it meets business objectives and supports scalability, performance and reliability.
Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative engineering culture. Work closely with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
Contribute to broader tech community through publicationsandspeaking engagements, sharing knowledge and expertise to promote innovation and best practices.
Collaborate with various teams across the organization to build alignment, drive decision-making, and communicate technical strategies transparently.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and market trends, ensuring platforms are adaptable to changing business needs and technological advancements.

12+ years of professional, hands-on software development experience, including leading technical projects across multiple teams or product areas
Extensiveexperience in architecting and designing large-scale, complex systems that have delivered significant business impact.
Proven experience in leading technology transformations for business-critical systems, driving innovation and efficiency
Deep and broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, with expertise in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting significant portions of a production stack.
Strong coding skills in Java, Kotlin, Golang, or similar languages, with the capabilitytoproducehigh-performance, production-quality code.
Proficient in utilizingcloud computing tools throughout the software development lifecycle, with deep expertise in DevOps practices, observability, telemetry, and test automation.
Demonstrated impact as distinguished engineer or equivalent in a complex technology area spanning multiple teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on transparency and visibility. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making.
Ability to shape the technical direction of the organization, working closely with senior leaders to influence technology roadmaps and drive the adoption of innovative technologies.
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience

Annual Salary
$150,000.00 - $300,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
