Requirements
- An ability to write production-ready code that is easily testable, easily understood by other developers, and accounts for edge cases and errors
- An understanding and ability to make well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs in their area; ability to work in other areas of the codebase with guidance
- Tenacity in the face of roadblocks and dispatches them efficiently, pulling in others as necessary. Requires minimal direction/oversight. Actively helps teammates unblock their work
- Effective communication that helps foster a culture of delivering praise and constructive feedback within the team and the team's respective business stakeholders
- Ability to work cross-functionally well with Product, Design, Operations, and Sales as necessary
- Ability to facilitate team discussions, including helping others approach constructive conflict with a "strong opinions held loosely" approach
- History of leading projects within a team with a high rate of success
- Strong Mentorship experience and ability to foster meaningful relationships in and across your team
- Ability to identify problems with the team and process, investigate potential causes, work with the team to propose solutions/next steps, and make sure the fixes are prioritized and completed
- Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years of experience building scalable Ruby on Rails and/or React apps
- Experience with deployment platforms (AWS, Heroku, etc..)
- Expertise in building secure, tested REST API's
- Relational DB schema design experience
- An excellent understanding of CS fundamentals: data structures, design patterns, etc
- Willingness to work programming languages outside of our core stack (Ruby on Rails and React)
- Experience building service-oriented architectures and RESTful APIs.A passion for well-written, highly tested code
- Experience with AWS services including EC2, RDS, EKS, S3, or equivalent cloud computing services a large plus
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership to set, promote, and execute the organization's architectural roadmap
- Partner with senior leadership to align the architectural roadmap with the overall product strategy
- Serve as a technology stakeholder in large cross-functional initiatives
- Build POCs of new technologies and features to test their viability
- Consult with internal and external stakeholders during the project discovery process to assess the feasibility and lift
- Work closely with Senior and Lead engineers on how to better guide their teams' technical direction and decision-making
- Aid development teams in building their domain knowledge and building their process and development practices
- Mentor and sponsor the technical decisions and growth of our outstanding engineers
- Understand team goals as well as the goals of their teammates. Works with the EM to find tasks/projects that will help teammates work towards their goals
- Help continually shape and refine the technical hiring process to ensure we're evaluating candidates in an effective way

- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker is a plus
