Requirements
  • Journeyperson Certified Appliance Technician
  • General Gas Fitter License
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Ability to build and work in a team environment, with a strong commitment to personal and team safety
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations
  • Extensive experience in customer/client/user management in a 24/7 operation with a strong customer focus
  • Ability to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools and materials
  • Basic PC skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Outlook
  • Professional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to effectively solve problems with minimal to no supervision
Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily site inspections and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on major electrical or gas appliances, including commercial dishwashing equipment, stoves, refrigerators, steam kettles, mixers, hotboxes, combi ovens, coffee machines, and walk-in cooler/freezers, following O&M manuals and job plans.
  • Repair or replace components and subcomponents using hand tools, battery-operated tools, soldering, and brazing equipment.
  • Consult with customers/users or refer to work orders to determine the nature of appliance malfunctions. Diagnose faults by checking controls, condensers, timer sequences, fans, and other components using test equipment such as meters and gauges to measure resistance, current, voltage, pressure, temperature, flue gases, and flow rates.
  • Refer to schematic diagrams or product manuals for servicing, maintaining, disassembling, and assembling appliances using hand tools, shop equipment, and specialized diagnostic and programming equipment.
  • Provide reports to the Maintenance Supervisor noting any problems found, either verbally or in writing, in the respective area of the CMMS (SAP).
  • Ensure all operations comply with customer regulations, corporate policies, federal and provincial health and safety legislations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Red Seal certification preferred
  • Certified training courses from major appliance manufacturers are an asset
  • 3-5 years of experience as an appliance technician
