Building Automation Specialist 2-DDC

Are you passionate about keeping complex building systems running smoothly and efficiently? In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining comfortable, safe, and reliable environments across a large and diverse campus. You’ll work with cutting‑edge building automation, HVAC, and mechanical systems while helping shape how these systems operate day‑to‑day and into the future.
You’ll be a trusted technical expert—troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, and supporting a wide range of facilities including research, academic, administrative, and laboratory spaces.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee and support the daily operation of mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to building automation and controls
- Write, modify, and implement control programs to improve HVAC performance and system reliability
- Participate in the commissioning of new and upgraded equipment
- Optimize HVAC systems to improve efficiency, comfort, and reliability across campus
- Provide technical guidance and operational direction to facilities staff
- Support operations across approximately 14.1 million square feet of campus space, on and off campus
- Respond to urgent mechanical or electrical system issues as needed, including occasional after‑hours call‑ins
What We’re Looking For
You’re hands‑on, technically curious, and comfortable working with complex systems. You enjoy solving problems, collaborating with others, and making a measurable impact on building performance and occupant comfort.
Qualifications include:
- Associate degree from a technical school or two years of college coursework, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience (preferred)
- At least 3 years of experience working with BACnet building automation systems, including:
- Complex HVAC system applications
- Network communications (LANs), commands, configurations, alarms, and scheduling
- System integration and proprietary interfaces
- Experience or training with network configuration and troubleshooting
- Broad working knowledge of Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems
- Comfort working with PC‑based systems and building automation software

Additional Information:
The target hiring range for this job profile is $ 55,700 - $72,700. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
