Initiates and leads research and development in the areas of non-viral gene delivery; collaborates with faculty, research staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and/or technical support staff at the Gene Therapy Institute and across the university to expand engagement in non-viral gene delivery initiatives; serves as Principal Investigator (PI) or co-Principal Investigator (co-PI) on research grants and contracts; initiates, sustains, and concludes sponsored research projects; serves as liaison with sponsoring agencies and organizations as well as other research and educational institutions; prepares research proposals for development and continuation of various research areas; develops new systems, topics for future investigations, and enhanced capability; coordinates analysis of research findings; prepares detailed summaries for sponsoring agencies; prepares reports and journal papers; makes presentations at conferences and symposia.
Qualifications
Required: Ph.D. Biomedical Engineering, or a related area of study; extensive experience in non-viral gene delivery; demonstrated ability as a competent and productive researcher (such as author of several publications of substantial interest and value as evidenced by favorable reviews, by presentation of papers to professional societies, contributions to new designs or techniques of material significance in the solution of important problems).
Desired: Extensive experience in non-viral gene and cell therapies; experience as PI or co-PI on research programs.
Additional Information:
The target hiring range for this job profile is $71,000 - $73,000. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc. The continuation of positions hired on research funds are contingent upon continued availability of funds.
