Engineering Technology Camp Director

  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • At least two years working with middle or high school students, including but not limited to work as a summer camp counselor, resident advisor, coach, youth mentor, guidance counselor, or educator
  • Previous camp planning and/or event planning experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, highly responsible, and dependable
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills across multiple age ranges and client groups
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail. Team player, flexible in evolving and quickly changing circumstances, eager to proactively take on responsibilities and find solutions
  • Willing to work irregular hours
  • Employment will be contingent upon the results of a background check
  • Comfortable working in virtual settings
  • Proficient technological ability in both the hardware and software realms. This can include webcams, both PC and Mac computers, setting up live streams for groups, communication apps (Ex: Keynote, WebEx, Slack, etc), common internet functionalities like uploading/downloading/troubleshooting, etc
  • A strong and fully functional internet connection (we will need to know your average up/down speeds)
  • Full-time virtual availability starting May 16, 2022 through August 25, 2022. May require a visit for in-person training in Atlanta, GA
  • Design and oversee a fun, safe, engaging, and inclusive experience for students from all backgrounds for all aspects of the camp
  • Participate in weekly calls with the Ideas United team and the technology company partner, while providing regular updates during camp
  • Serve as the primary student and parent contact for questions prior to and during camp
  • Adhere to and provide guidance around camp security and confidentiality requirements to both counselors and students
  • Design and conduct a thorough counselor training process and realign counselor behavior and expectations during camp as needed
  • Foster a cohesive and collaborative environment among camp counselors, including facilitating regular team check-ins during camp
  • Refresh camp guidelines and rules before the start of camp and ensure that they are being followed and properly executed throughout the camp
  • Monitor the online safety and well-being of all staff and students
  • Immediately address any student or counselor issues in a professional manner and escalate as needed
  • Manage daily student schedule and counselor staffing assignments
  • Assist in the planning and execution of booking evening and/or weekend student activities during the camp period
  • Conduct post-camp counselor debriefs in collaboration with the Ideas United staff and provide any requested wrap-up reports or materials
