Requirements
  • Two years of formal Radiologic Technology training.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Licensed in radiography by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
  • Performs all aspects of diagnostic radiology to include trauma, orthopedic, fluoroscopy, GU contrast exams, operative and portable exams.
  • Able to operate imaging equipment and other devices as appropriate.
  • Positions patients to obtain anatomic information.
  • Calculates exposure factors and collimates correctly to reduce radiation exposure to patients. Practices radiation protection for patients and personnel.
  • Evaluates images for technical quality and uses sound judgement to take additional images to better demonstrate pathology.
  • Evaluates orders for appropriate history and clinical information and seeks guidance on correct exam if questionable.
  • Reports all equipment malfunctions and hazards to appropriate supervisor.
  • Interacts professionally and courteously with patients, co-workers, and medical staff.
  • Assists in training of student radiographers.
  • Utilizes time productively and appropriately with respect to patient flow, room use, stocking of supplies, and clerical duties to increase department efficiency.
  • Ensures that patient wait times are minimized.
  • Spends more than 90% of working time on productive tasks without supervisory prompting.
  • Follows Universal Precaution guidelines with each patient
  • Attends yearly "Blood-borne pathogens/OSHA" inservice.
  • Practices aseptic technique when necessary.
  • Produces an accurate RIS and PACS record of each exam.
  • Completes all Meditech entries and edits orders to reflect correct exam.
  • Uses appropriate markers.
  • Sends complete record to PACS on correct accession number.
  • Pursues continuing education by attending department and hospital wide programs, regional seminars, and/or college courses.
  • Meets Massachusetts State licensing standards.
  • Provides flexibility in rotating between all offsite locations
  • Performs any task for which the employee is competent.
