Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of work experience related to the position.
  • Strong administrative, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and a continuing commitment to advancing equity, inclusion, and social justice practices in support of a diverse community.
  • Previous experience with student crisis response and/or service in an on-call capacity.
  • Integrity and the ability to handle complex, sensitive, and confidential issues.
  • A strong understanding of issues facing college students and their parents.
  • The ability to manage multiple collaborative projects and systems in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Administer the New School Emergency Assistance Program and accompanying initiatives in collaboration with campus partners, including managing its budget.
  • Provide individual financial support advising to students.
  • Lead financial wellness and scholarship initiatives and conduct outreach to eligible students.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating university-wide training for faculty, staff, and student leaders on financial wellness, financial literacy, and student support services.
  • Serve as a case manager and support, advise, and advocate for students in distress using university and community resources to meet their needs.
  • Serve on the university's behavioral threat assessment team, known as the CARE Team.
  • Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of campus-wide resources for students navigating college transition issues, housing and food insecurity, financial wellness, identity development, discrimination, mental health, and sexual violence and harassment.
  • Serve as a referral resource for students, parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in university-wide events, including residential hall openings, Orientation, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, and Commencement.
  • Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation with campus colleagues throughout the year, including holidays, with a high level of in-person response to mental health concerns and other student support situations.
  • Communicate consistently with senior leadership during crises or emergencies and maintain accurate incident reports using PAVE Software.
  • Work with Campus Safety, Student Health Services, Residential Education, and other departments to respond appropriately to critical incidents and crises on campus.
  • Maintain contact with parents and other constituencies as appropriate.
  • Serve as a member of the Student Support and Advocacy leadership team and assist in developing, implementing, and assessing the department's mission and priorities.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
