374Water receives DoD Success Memo for PFAS destruction tech, accelerating federal procurement

374Water and its demonstration partner Arcadis have received a Success Memo from the US Department of Defence's Defence Innovation Unit, validating the performance of 374Water's AirSCWO technology for destroying PFAS contamination. The memo formally validates the economic and technical viability of a regional AirSCWO hub following evaluation under the DoD's Environmental Security Technology Certification Programme. It also establishes conditions under which federal agencies may proceed directly to follow-on production awards. The milestone connects federal validation with 374Water's commercial Waste Destruction Services platform in Orlando, Florida, where the company is building infrastructure to treat PFAS, biosolids, industrial waste, and other difficult-to-treat waste streams. The facility targets between $3 million and $5 million in annual recurring revenue at initial scale. The Department of Defence has identified 574 military installations requiring PFAS remediation action.

Arcadis invests in AI platform Nomic to accelerate project delivery

Arcadis has invested in Nomic, an AI platform designed for the built environment, following a six-month trial involving 150 engineers across 12 countries. The partnership aims to embed AI agents into core project workflows, including drawing review, code compliance checks, and BIM coordination. During the trial, 86% of participating engineers reported that Nomic changed how they approach their work, with one workflow reducing several days of manual document cataloguing to hours. The platform integrates with tools Arcadis teams already use, including Autodesk Forma and Bentley ProjectWise. Arcadis plans to use Nomic's technology to accelerate project delivery, improve accuracy, and create more scalable working methods whilst maintaining human expertise at the centre of operations.

Arcadis rejects WSP's $5.7B takeover bid as undervaluing firm's 'intrinsic value'

Arcadis rejects WSP's $5.7B takeover bid as undervaluing firm's 'intrinsic value' Dutch firm's board unanimously determines second proposal as "not in the best interest of the company and its stakeholders" July 30, 2026 Netherlands-based engineering consultant Arcadis has rejected a second takeover proposal from Canadian engineering giant WSP Global on grounds that the $5.7-billion revised offer "undervalued Arcadis' intrinsic value." Arcadis said In a July 23 announcement that its board unanimously voted to decline the unsolicited, conditional non-binding proposal - determining the offer was "not in the best interest" of the company and stakeholders and failed to "reflect the substantial value creation potential" in executing its "standalone strategy." WSP Global's first offer for $4.8 billion, submitted on July 14, was rebuffed on similar grounds. Additionally, Arcadis said 50% of the proposal consisted of WSP Global stock, hovering around $167.60 per share. The "meaningful stock component represents a materially different risk profile to our shareholders compared to a standalone Arcadis investment, including significantly higher than anticipated leverage and lower than expected dividend yield," the Dutch firm noted. Included among Arcadis concerns was uncertainty around "deal execution and timing, execution of strategic plans, cultural fit and integration risks." In a statement, CEO Heather Polinsky cited the company's strong 2026 second-quarter and first-half performance, with results released on July 30. Firm organic net revenue for the quarter rose 2.2%, exceeding analysts' 0.6% forecast, and was up 1.5% for the half-year. Arcadis also noted record first-half 2026 backlog of $4.6 billion, up 13.5% organically, and operating profit margin improved to 11.4%, supported by what it said were cost-out measures and ongoing rightsizing. "Our H1 2026 performance demonstrates that our growth trajectory is moving in the right direction. With a record backlog and clear momentum in our key markets, we are confident that our standalone strategy is the most effective path to creating value for our shareholders and stakeholders as we deliver on our stated medium-term financial targets," she said. Ask ENR In a statement, WSP said it "reiterates its invitation" to Arcadis "to discuss its latest proposal and address any remaining concerns through constructive engagement." Earlier, Arcadis announced that it would acquire Spanish power design specialist Satel as it looks to strengthen its grid modernization, renewable energy and data center hyperscaling capabilities across Europe, but details on deal financial and closing date were not disclosed. Satel CEO Pablo Bernat said that joining Arcadis is a "natural next step" for the company's business and broadens its "range of expertise and global delivery capability." Arcadis ranks at No. 8 on ENR's most current Top 225 Global Design Firms list, reporting $5.5 billion in 2024 global engineering revenue, wth WSP Global ranked No. 3, reporting $10.5 billion. The latest ranking will be released in August. SPONSORED BY Hi there. I'm Ask ENR. You can ask me anything about construction and engineering, and I'll help find the content you're looking for. Arcadis rejects second WSP bid worth £3.7bn.

Arcadis rejects second WSP bid worth £3.7bn. Consultant insists rivals' offer still undervalues company Arcadis has rebuffed a second bid from rival WSP, which valued the Dutch firm at €4.4bn (£3.7bn), The firm, which is listed on the Dutch Stock Exchange, Euronext Amsterdam, said its executive board and supervisory board had unanimously rejected a €51.50 (£44.12) per share offer. The proposal, which Arcadis described as "unsolicited, conditional, and non-binding", came after a previous bid worth €48.50 (£41.5) per ordinary share. Arcadis said the boards' financial and legal advisers had assessed that WSP's latest offer "continues to fundamentally undervalue Arcadis' intrinsic value, strategic position, and future prospects" and that, "accordingly, it is not in the best interest of the company's shareholders, employees, clients and other stakeholders". As well as contending that the offer fundamentally undervalued the business, it noted the large stock component, with roughly half of the consideration consisting of WSP shares. "This meaningful stock component represents a materially different risk profile to our shareholders compared to a standalone Arcadis investment, including significantly higher than anticipated leverage and lower than expected dividend yield," it said. It also said the revised proposal entailed "material uncertainty regarding deal execution and timing, execution of strategic plans, cultural fit, and integration risks", noting potential adverse consequences for Arcadis' shareholders, employees, clients and other stakeholders. 23 March 2026 Heather Polinsky, CEO of Arcadis, said: "Our H1 2026 performance demonstrates that our growth trajectory is moving in the right direction. With a record backlog and clear momentum in our key markets, we are confident that our standalone strategy is the most effective path to creating value for our shareholders and stakeholders as we deliver on our stated medium-term financial targets." Founded in 1888, Arcadis has around 34,000 employees worldwide with just over 4,000 based in the UK with the firm's head office at 80 Fenchurch Street. Last year it had revenue of €4.9bn (£4.2bn). Arcadis bought EC Harris in 2011 and three years later bought Hyder for around £300m. WSP is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. It employs around 75,000 people and last year had a revenue of CA$18.3bn (£9.8bn). It has 10,000 employees in the UK and Ireland. No comments yet. You're not signed in.
