Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education is required.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Candidates must have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Candidates must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at the time of application or must have graduated the semester immediately preceding the internship start.
  • Candidates must have minimum sophomore status.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of application or graduation is preferred.
  • Candidates must have professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidates must be proficient with technology and have experience with Excel and Microsoft Teams.
  • Candidates must have strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and the ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Take charge of select home projects and work with vendors, homeowners, and teammates to deliver high-quality homes on schedule.
  • Learn about building codes, materials, schedules, and methodologies used in the homebuilding business.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, Resource Planning, and Customer Care to define construction processes and execute customer and operational objectives.
  • Support Field Managers and supervisors by coordinating homeowner assessments, service requests, and workflow processes.
  • Evaluate issues, perform root-cause analysis, and determine corrective actions, including minor adjustments or repairs.
  • Oversee trade partners to ensure timely, high-quality completion of work orders while managing accountability, back charges, and payment approvals within limits.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships through clear communication, professionalism, and adherence to legal and company protocols.
  • Develop reporting literacy and learn financial analytics to support business decisions and opportunities.
  • Search for land and help develop it into residential communities.
  • Collaborate with builders, architects, and city and state jurisdictions to bring neighborhoods to life.
  • Navigate zoning requirements and permits.
  • Assist with data-driven reports and proposals.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify consumer trends.
  • Assist with marketing and advertising activities, including social media, email, and web activities.
  • Assist with intake, trafficking, and creation of assets for media requests.
  • Perform competitive market analysis to identify opportunities.
  • Assist with search engine optimization projects, including blog posts and website content.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal departments to understand procurement operations.
  • Learn about bid submittals, negotiation, and cost savings.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for potential homeowners and educate and guide them through the home-buying process.
  • Learn the sales process from initial contact through purchase.
  • Track customer capture rates, sales volume, backlog, and engagement strategies.
  • Shadow various functions involved in the homebuilding process.
  • Complete a capstone presentation or final project if included in the internship assignment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Rising juniors, rising seniors, or graduate students are preferred.
  • Candidates pursuing Business Administration, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, Marketing, Communication, Finance, Architecture, or a similar degree are preferred.
  • Strong interest in the homebuilding, real estate, or construction industry is preferred.
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities such as student organizations, leadership roles, student athletics, or the NAHB student competition is preferred.
