Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, and Hyundai Motor Group have invested in AI chip startup Tenstorrent, joining a Series D funding round worth nearly $700 million. The round was led by Samsung Securities and AFW Partners. This marks the first investment by Samsung and LG in Tenstorrent, which plans to use the funds to expand its engineering team, invest in its supply chain, and develop large AI training servers.
Tenstorrent has acquired Blue Cheetah Analog Design, a start-up specializing in analog mixed-signal IP. Blue Cheetah, a key vendor for Tenstorrent, has been developing advanced interconnects for chiplet products. This acquisition enhances Tenstorrent’s chiplet solutions and supports its goal of an open chiplet ecosystem with optimized interconnects. Blue Cheetah's expertise in D2D, DDR, and SerDes technologies is crucial for Tenstorrent’s AI and RISC-V solutions.
