Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related work experience is required, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Understanding of lease accounting and the impact of transactions on financial statements and the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, client service, and team skills.
  • A high degree of accuracy, strong attention to detail, strong analytical skills, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, and other related accounting software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze and create accounting system entries using appropriate procedures and accounting principles for basic to moderate transactions.
  • Book new leases and assist with client account maintenance.
  • Assist with transactions, maintenance, and research for non-lease fleet acquisitions.
  • Perform lessee accounting for Compeer lease obligations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely lease invoice generation.
  • Assist in resolving lease accounting issues.
  • Assist with setting up, servicing, monitoring, and maintaining specialty programs.
  • Calculate, monitor, and conduct maintenance for payoffs.
  • Create daily general ledger entries.
  • Reconcile the general ledger to the core lease application and other lease accounting programs to ensure transactional accuracy.
  • Monitor and resolve exception and unposted items.
  • Process specialized Risk Asset Unit lease servicing requests.
  • Collaborate with lease sales, credit, and document teams to set up new programs in the accounting systems.
  • Process payments to the application.
  • Work with AgriBank and SunStream to resolve lease lockbox payment exceptions.
  • Administer automated clearing house setup and maintenance.
  • Administer month-end and other system jobs using the core lease application and work with outside vendors.
  • Provide technical support to Compeer Financial team members and vendors regarding issues with assigned accounting functions, including lease or general-ledger clearing-account transactions, in accordance with department and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Work with team members to resolve issues accurately and timely and minimize potential client concerns.
  • Communicate and respond to AgriBank and SunStream regarding transactions and system requests by email or portal.
  • Monitor data quality regularly to ensure data accuracy.
  • Research and resolve data quality issues.
  • Assist the data team with mapping lease data from Odessa lease tables to the DDB, DSS, and data warehouse as needed.
  • Create spreadsheets and tools for data input, calculations, and processes as necessary.
  • Monitor leases to ensure payments and disbursements are applied accurately.
  • Verify transaction entries to ensure accuracy in accounting system databases.
  • Prepare information for publication on the Compeer Financial intranet as needed.
  • Recommend process improvements and efficiencies within the department and Compeer Financial.
  • Document department policies, procedures, and processes.

So should insurers and agricultural lenders offer farmers that look after their soil a ‘good soil discount’?. While it’s generally understood that cover cropping, reduced tillage, and crop rotations benefit soil, these practices are by no means ubiquitous, not least because there are high upfront costs, the benefits don’t come overnight, and there are no immediate financial incentives, says soil health nonprofit Land Core.
