Responsibilities
  • Deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring, and Friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
  • Observe team members, provide feedback, hold them accountable, and recognize strong guest experience performance.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action, align the team on behaviors and execution, celebrate wins, drive results, and elevate the guest experience.
  • Lead daily and weekly workload execution for department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including receiving products, merchandising, signing, setting and updating merchandise sales-floor displays, sampling, restocking shelves, organizing backrooms, and processing price changes for General Merchandise areas.
  • Educate the team on how merchandise setup and organization, product accuracy and stock levels, and sales-floor maintenance affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
  • Assess General Merchandise process reporting, identify gaps, and assist in developing plans for the direct leader to review and approve.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, aligned with business priorities.
  • Establish goals and expectations with guidance from the direct leader and hold team members accountable.
  • Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work accurately when applicable; assess fulfillment reporting, identify gaps, and assist in developing improvement plans.
  • Ensure products are in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor while prioritizing guest experience.
  • Collaborate with store teams and leaders to identify priorities and ensure the store is guest ready.
  • Relay Target communications about relevant trends and products to team members during team connection moments.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team as directed by the direct leader.
  • Support onboarding and learning best practices and close skill gaps through development, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Identify team members for future leader positions and use growth development to build a departmental talent pool.
  • Support guest services, including backup cashier and digital fulfillment processes, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches and creating equitable experiences.
  • Follow Target policies, safety procedures, food-safety and pricing guidelines, and maintain a safe, compliant workplace by reporting and correcting hazards.
  • Lead and demonstrate a safety culture by modeling safe behaviors, correcting hazards, holding the team accountable to safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting and investigating injuries accurately and promptly.
  • Model physical security processes to enhance the in-store security culture.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies across the store, including ordering, storage, and application according to best practices.
  • Follow safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier when applicable.
  • Occasionally assume store-level Leader on Duty responsibilities during assigned shifts based on store needs.
  • Address store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
