Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree, such as a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science, in a numerate, scientific, or engineering subject, or equivalent higher education, training, and experience.
  • Chartered Engineer membership or equivalent professional status from a recognized institution such as IMechE or IET.
  • Extensive experience in engineering or technical functions, including experience as a Contractor’s Responsible Engineer or Engineering Manager on major infrastructure or transportation projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and deliver work on programme.
  • Project and team-running experience in a UK consultancy, client, or contractor organization.
  • Experience working in a global engineering production environment.
  • Knowledge of UK and international design standards, including Network Rail, HS2, and EN standards.
  • Strong understanding of relevant Building Information Modelling standards, design integration procedures, and applicable legislation.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, Construction (Design and Management) requirements, and Safe by Design principles.
  • Ability to engage, negotiate, and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Ability to support, mentor, and animate a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical discipline engineering function and manage the Overhead Line Equipment and Overhead Catenary System design team for Egis Transportation in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
  • Lead the growth of the Egis Overhead Line Equipment team, including recruitment of technical and staff members and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Drive sustainable growth and develop the group’s market position for Overhead Line Equipment in the rail sector.
  • Build trusted client relationships, maintain regular senior-level engagement, and embed a consistently client-focused culture.
  • Establish and maintain a professional Overhead Line Equipment engineering team capable of delivering high-quality client services.
  • Maintain personal accountability for successful delivery of complex projects and provide senior intervention when required.
  • Act as an Overhead Line Equipment Contractor’s Responsible Engineer and/or Contractor’s Engineering Manager within rail projects when required, with responsibility for project technical deliverables.
  • Review, evaluate, and implement industry standards to ensure engineering deliverables comply with quality requirements.
  • Coordinate quality aspects of Overhead Line Equipment technical deliverables according to project Quality Management Plan principles.
  • Review and approve applicable deliverables and act as a technical control level across projects.
  • Provide strategic oversight of Egis Overhead Line Equipment engineering capabilities.
  • Support Overhead Line Equipment team resource planning and supply-chain partnership strategy when required.
  • Make strategic recruitment decisions.
  • Define and maintain team competency within the discipline, including competency assessments, professional reviews, training plans, and guidance and mentoring for junior team members.
  • Support bidding opportunities across the UK and international business to grow Egis revenue and capability.
  • Work on projects across multiple commissions in the UK and international business.
