Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as an Automotive Controller or Assistant Controller in a dealership environment.
- Strong understanding of dealership financial statements, internal controls, and compliance standards.
- Advanced Excel proficiency is the highest priority.
- Deep knowledge of inventory accounting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition in automotive retail.
- Ability to lead a team and collaborate across departments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable, payroll, schedules, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and manufacturer requirements.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity needs.
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard dealership assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Review schedules, investigate unusual entries, and ensure proper bank, reserve, factory payable, and floorplan reconciliations.
- Ensure all manufacturer accounts, including warranty, rebates, co-op, and interest credits, are accurate and current.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, provide required documentation, and address findings.
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to senior management to support strategic decisions.
- Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff and promote accuracy and accountability.
