Requirements
  • MD, MD/Ph.D., or equivalent.
  • Must qualify for the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor at OHSU.
  • M.D. board certification in medical oncology.
  • Eligibility to obtain a license to practice medicine in Oregon.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee clinical and research expansion within the breast cancer service line.
  • Identify and build collaborations across the Knight Cancer Institute, connecting research strengths with a vision for clinical-care and research impact.
  • Direct development of a comprehensive breast cancer program at the Knight Cancer Institute.
  • Establish an innovative research portfolio.
  • Coordinate with institutional leaders to advance clinical growth.
  • Build collaborations that advance breast cancer treatment.
  • Dedicate 50% of time to building clinical research.
  • Lead by example and model excellence in research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Manage resources to coordinate and integrate programs with those of the Leonard Schnitzer Endowment and maintain scholarly activities and research programs across the division.
  • Link science with health care in the treatment of complex disease through investigator-initiated research, clinical-trial enrollment, and translational outcomes research.
  • Participate in medical-student and house-staff education.
  • Care for patients with breast cancer.
  • Establish and maintain scholarly activity focused on understanding the causes, detection, and treatment of breast cancer.
  • Carry out basic research in assigned division research space.
  • Participate in OHSU administrative committees and councils as approved by leadership.
  • Engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups.
  • Contribute to clinical, teaching, research/academic, and inpatient-service components of the position.

  • A distinguished record of publications and funding in breast cancer research.
  • Experience leading a strong breast cancer research program that advances clinical and translational research.
  • Experience managing clinical trials.
  • Experience building or expanding a program, group, or initiative within an NCI-designated cancer center.
  • A commitment to developing and fostering a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to cancer services and patient-centered care.
  • A record of excellence in patient care.
  • Ability to build strong, sustainable partnerships.
  • Personal and professional commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
  • Demonstrated business and financial management skills, including budget management and revenue generation.
  • Experience with hospital organizations and functions.
