Angel Studios creates and distributes uplifting, independent films and TV shows through a community-driven model. It operates a platform where filmmakers submit “torches” (prototypes of final productions) and the Angel Guild, a group of investors and members, votes on which projects to greenlight. The company earns revenue via a free-to-watch app that encourages viewers to pay it forward to fund future seasons and through merchandise sales. Unlike traditional studios, Angel Studios relies on crowd-based decision-making and fan funding to shape its slate and financially support projects from conception to distribution. Its goal is to connect content creators with audiences who want meaningful, positive entertainment, by letting the community fund and choose the projects they love.

Jeffrey Greenstein's A Higher Standard commenced sales at 2024 AFM and the cast includes Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, and Kate Box. Julio Quintana's Angel And The Badman arrives in October and is a reimagining of the 1947 John Wayne western about a wounded outlaw who arrives at a ranch with the marshall and a gang of outlaws on his tail. Neal McDonough also stars. Hershey directed by Mark Waters and featuring an ensemble led by Finn Wittrock will open over the Thanksgiving November holiday weekend and charts how the founder of the US chocolate brand overcame early failures to create his sweet empire. Action musical Drummer Boy from directors Ben and Joel David Smallbone opens on November 6 and tells of two brothers on opposite sides of the American Revolutionary War. Joel David Smallbone, Lucas Leach, and Beth Easdown star. Angel Studios CEO details 2.2M-member guild approval model, path to sub-$25M EBITDA loss

Angel Studios CEO Neal Harmon detailed the company's audience-driven model at a Roth Capital event, highlighting the Angel Guild system. The platform's 2.2 million members vote on projects, with titles needing a score above 70 for approval. Harmon said this approach yields an average Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 93. The company is progressing towards profitability, guiding to an adjusted EBITDA loss of less than $25 million this year compared with a $138 million loss last year. Angel treats theatrical releases as break-even community builders whilst relying on guild-driven revenue as its primary monetisation. Angel plans to double its content library and expand third-party licensing with partners including Lionsgate, Samuel Goldwyn and StudioCanal. The company has generated $360 million in guild revenue and paid $228 million in cumulative royalties.
