Requirements
  • A college degree.
  • At least 5 years of resort sales experience representing four- and five-diamond/star properties.
  • A track record of achieving sales targets.
  • An established client database in the designated market.
  • Experience selling Caribbean destinations.
  • Experience delivering high-level professional interactions and results consistent with maximizing revenue for resort operations.
  • Competence with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and software packages.
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Technological knowledge and the ability to apply it to communication and competitive selling.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Professional integrity in external and internal interactions and correspondence.
  • The ability to help set and accomplish goals that meet or exceed expectations.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume client environment, with time management and multitasking skills.
Responsibilities
  • Target group accounts, markets, or segments through proactive solicitation and account saturation.
  • Identify, qualify, and solicit new business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers through sales calls, entertainment, familiarization trips, roadshows, and tradeshows.
  • Handle incoming group requests within established guidelines.
  • Solicit the rebooking of established customers.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled sales and service contacts with assigned accounts by telephone or correspondence.
  • Participate in industry and civic organizations representing opportunities for business.
  • Arrange and conduct key on-property site inspections with clients, including entertaining clients to showcase the resorts.
  • Close the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.
  • Understand the overall market, including competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, and airlift.
  • Respond promptly to customer and prospect inquiries and correspondence.
  • Prepare and submit reports required by the Director of Group Sales and/or Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Coordinate with resort departments to arrange accommodations, services, and special events for booked business.
  • Maintain adequate and current files on assigned accounts.
  • Accurately forecast group sleeping rooms and event revenue, including catering and audio-visual revenue, before turnover and continue participating in the process after turnover.
  • Participate in sales department meetings.
  • Meet and exceed individual revenue goals.
  • Manage customer budgets to maximize revenue, meet customer needs, and identify opportunities to upsell products and services.
  • Build department top-line revenue by following sales strategy guidelines set by the Director of Sales & Marketing and Director of Group Sales.
  • Identify hotel revenue opportunities based on event profiles.
  • Travel and participate in entertainment activities as required.

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to marketing or sales would be an advantage.
