Requirements
  • CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification is required at minimum.
  • An HNC or HND in Engineering, or a time-served Welder/Inspector background, is required.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging across teams are required.
  • The ability to work methodically and organise and manage workloads to meet deadlines is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report writing is required.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-, during-, and post-weld inspections in line with drawings, standards, and company procedures.
  • Carry out dimensional checks and visual non-destructive testing during and after welding operations.
  • Support defect investigation and root-cause analysis, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions.
  • Record and maintain inspection data accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in reducing rework and repair rates through proactive inspection and feedback.
  • Conduct periodic audits of welding processes and assist with client inspections.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote a strong Health, Safety, and Quality culture across the workshop.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience as a Welding Inspector within manufacturing, engineering, or defence sectors.
  • PCN Level 2 magnetic particle inspection and/or dye penetrant inspection certification.
  • Previous non-destructive testing experience.
  • Experience as a welder or holding American Welding Inspection qualifications.
  • Membership of a professional body such as TWI, IMechE, IET, or Argyll Ruane.
