Mineralys Therapeutics

Mineralys Therapeutics

View

Mineralys Therapeutics develops targeted treatments for diseases driven by dysregulated aldosterone to help lower blood pressure. Its lead drug, lorundrostat, is an oral aldosterone synthase inhibitor that blocks the CYP11B2 enzyme to reduce aldosterone production, with high selectivity over cortisol. It is advancing through late-stage trials (Phase 3) to treat hypertension-related conditions, CKD, and potentially OSA, using funds from its IPO to support trials, manufacturing, and commercialization preparation. By focusing on a selective mechanism that avoids large cortisol disruption, Mineralys differentiates itself from older MRAs and aims to address a large potential market, estimated to exceed $200 billion by 2030.

Mineralys acquires royalty rights for $200M, secures $500M loan ahead of lorundrostat launch

Mineralys Therapeutics paid $200 million upfront to repurchase future royalty payments from Mitsubishi Tanabe for its hypertension drug lorundrostat, aiming to maximise long-term equity value ahead of commercialisation. The company also secured a $500 million senior secured term loan facility and completed a $150 million equity offering in Q2 2026. New clinical data from the LAUNCH-HTN trial showed lorundrostat achieved a 52% placebo-adjusted reduction in UACR for chronic kidney disease patients. The company is targeting a 22 December 2026 PDUFA date and plans to have its sales force ready before potential approval. R&D expenses rose to $221.4 million in Q2 2026, largely due to the $200 million royalty repurchase payment. Management said market research suggests physicians prefer lorundrostat over competitor baxdrostat by a 2-to-1 margin based on efficacy and safety signals.

Mineralys Therapeutics reports $661M cash as Q2 net loss hits $241M on $200M Tanabe buyout

Mineralys Therapeutics reported a net loss of $241.1 million for Q2 2026, compared to $43.3 million in the same period last year, primarily driven by a $200 million upfront payment to Tanabe Pharma to repurchase future royalty payments. The company also faces up to $100 million in milestone payments. Despite the loss, Mineralys maintained a strong cash position of $661.4 million as of 30 June 2026, up from $656.6 million at year-end 2025. The company secured additional funding through a $150 million equity offering and a $500 million senior secured term loan facility. R&D expenses jumped to $221.4 million from $38.3 million year-over-year, whilst G&A expenses rose to $24.7 million from $8.5 million, driven by higher professional fees and personnel costs. The company is preparing for the commercial launch of lorundrostat ahead of the December PDUFA date.

Mineralys Therapeutics reported a wider second-quarter loss, largely driven by a $200 million upfront payment related to its amended agreement with Tanabe Pharma Corp. The company is preparing for the commercial launch of lorundrostat, pending FDA approval, with a target decision date of 22 December. Chief Executive Jon Congleton said the company's priorities included launch readiness and evaluating partnership opportunities. Mineralys also appointed Dr Terry Ferguson as chief medical officer, succeeding Dr David Rodman. During the quarter, the company presented clinical data from its Launch-HTN trial, showing statistically meaningful blood-pressure reductions in patients with chronic kidney disease. Formal label discussions with the FDA are expected in October or November.
