Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA certification required.
  • 8-10+ years of relevant experience in financial reporting and technical accounting, preferably in a publicly traded company.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Strong understanding of SOX Compliance and Internal Controls.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with financial reporting software and ERP systems.
  • Prior management experience required. Experience managing direct/indirect reports in excess of 10 people preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and develop a management team while establishing and executing goals and strategies for the department.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, which may involve reconciling accounts, making adjusting journal entries, and ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement. Provide insights to management to support decision-making.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor performance against budgeted figures and provide explanations for any deviations.
  • Help establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations. This may involve developing and implementing new controls as needed.
  • Assist with external and internal audits by providing auditors with necessary documentation and explanations. Ensure audit findings are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the tax department or external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns. Stay updated on tax laws and regulations.
  • Utilize financial software and systems to manage and maintain financial data efficiently. Recommend improvements or upgrades to financial systems when necessary.
  • Supervise a team of professionals and assist with professional development.
  • Participate in special financial projects, such as process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, or system implementations.

  • Experience in the oil and gas industry preferred.
