Requirements
  • At least three years of experience as a nutrition coach or instructor directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities.
  • Specific experience teaching nutrition and developing nutritious meal plans in a group setting.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • An active, unrestricted, and unencumbered group fitness, fitness, nutrition, or equivalent certification for all ages from an accredited program, unless qualifying for the degree-in-lieu provision.
  • A valid California driver's license and valid automobile insurance.
  • Qualification to drive company vehicles under IEHP insurance standards, maintaining a driving record with no more than three points.
  • Knowledge of macronutrients, micronutrients, hydration, digestion, and metabolism.
  • Knowledge of exercise principles and group fitness dynamics.
  • Knowledge of kitchen and fitness equipment safety.
  • Knowledge of teaching strategies, music cueing, and choreography.
  • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing.
  • Skill in first aid procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of all ages, cultures, and skill levels.
  • Ability to positively support members' fitness and nutrition goals.
  • Ability to conduct safe and effective group classes.
  • Ability to prepare and process administrative paperwork effectively.
  • Ability to motivate and support participants with professionalism and care.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and community partners.
  • Availability for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical work and sustain a high degree of energy and endurance.
  • Flexibility to ensure working hours meet customer needs.
  • Willingness to travel to IEHP locations designated by CWC leadership when needed.
  • Required certifications must be obtained within the specified employment timelines if not already held: Food Handler's Card, CPR/First Aid, ServSafe, Mandated Reporter Training, and Child Development Certification.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct group classes and workshops covering nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle wellness, using safe techniques and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Support special wellness events at assigned locations.
  • Document participant referrals accurately to promote continuity of care and closed care gaps.
  • Prepare and process administrative paperwork supporting daily operations.
  • Design, develop, and refine evidence-based wellness curricula using public health research, community needs assessments, and behavior change models.
  • Create structured lesson plans, participant materials, and multi-week program outlines with consistent, culturally relevant, accessible, and measurable learning outcomes.
  • Provide personalized and group coaching with customized nutrition and fitness plans.
  • Help participants establish and achieve short- and long-term wellness goals.
  • Foster safe, supportive, and inclusive environments through empathetic communication, trust-building, connection, and continued progress support.
  • Maintain positive relationships through follow-ups and ongoing encouragement.
  • Maintain clean and safe kitchen, fitness, and activity spaces.
  • Enforce safety protocols, report facility needs, and provide CPR/First Aid when required.
  • Work with CWC leadership on wellness initiatives based on community feedback and health trends.
  • Travel to designated locations to deliver classes as needed.
  • Collect and analyze participant progress data, including attendance, goal achievement, and satisfaction surveys, to evaluate program effectiveness and guide improvements.
  • Participate in quality assurance audits across programming areas to ensure safety standards are documented and followed.
  • Follow Meditrac job aids for accurate entries and minimal error standards in PowerBI reporting.
  • Assist members with service navigation, forward inquiries to internal teams, and support timely access to care through calls and in-person engagement.
  • Promote wellness events, mobile clinics, and programming at designated locations.
  • Schedule classes, maintain accurate records, prepare reports, coordinate supply orders, and support communication workflows across teams and locations.
  • Perform other duties relevant to the position, center, and organization to support Health Plan operations and department business needs.
