SALARY: $70,000/annual
SCHEDULE: Due to the nature of law enforcement work and operation, position may require occasional support outside of core working hours, as well as intermittent weekend support, mission dependent.

About the Role
The Investigative Support Analyst (ISA) will be specifically engaged in narcotics interdiction activities of the Inspection Service.
What you will do:
Interdictions:
- Under the supervision of a Postal Inspector, the ISA will observe mail in USPS facilities and identify mail for examination by the Inspector. The ISA may isolate the mail to an area for the Inspector, consistent with the local protocol. The ISA will consult with the Inspector regarding the reasons the mail is suspect. The Inspector will make the decision to detain the mail.
- The ISA will participate in the set up and breakdown of equipment/work area associated with interdictions.
- The ISA will perform manual and analytical tasks supportive of interdictions.
Administrative Interdiction Process Operations:
- The ISA will support Administrative Interdiction Process activities related to the recording and tracking of mail in process, data entry and other activities related to the process.
- The ISA will be required to utilize a computer database to complete a triage and deconfliction process for suspicious parcels.
- The ISA will be required to make telephone calls to postal customers to discuss the contents of mail.
Parcel Disposition Process:
- The ISA will assist in organizing and storing inventory of detained mail.
- The ISA will assist in the opening of mail, handling and recording of contents.
- The ISA will assist in the processing and bagging of seized evidence.
- The ISA will assist in the clean-up and organization after an opening process.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university AND a minimum of five years’ Law Enforcement experience is desired. Significant Law Enforcement experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
- General knowledge of federal statutes.
- Familiarity with USPS Plant & Distribution Center Operations.
- Prior Law Enforcement experience with narcotics investigations.
- Knowledge of Federal Rules of Evidence, processes in evidence collection and preservation.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing sufficient to express thoughts and ideas to a variety of people.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, computer and internet functions.
- Proficiency conducting research on the internet and commercial as well as public databases.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Experience supporting the preparation of a final work product.
- Ability to travel to other postal facilities for interdiction operations.
- Individuals must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position, which require arduous exertion involving prolonged standing, walking, bending and reaching, climbing ladders, and may involve the handling of heavy containers of mail and parcels weighing up to 70 pounds.
Clearance:
Applicants selected may be subject to a government background investigation and may be required to meet the following conditions of employment.
Security Requirements/Background Investigation Requirements:
- Must be a U.S Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident.
- Favorable credit check for all cleared positions
- Successfully passing a background investigation including drug screening.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to attend meetings with other managers and employees. Standing for prolonged and extended periods of time.
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 0% - 10% of the time.
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 0% - 10% of the time.
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write, type and use a telephone system 100% of the time.
- Sitting: Sitting for prolonged and extended periods of time.
