Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in actuarial science or mathematics is required.
  • Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and/or Fellowship of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) is required.
  • A minimum of four years of work-related experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in both English and French are required, including English communication with clients outside Quebec.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Good organization and documentation skills are required.
  • Solid technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • The candidate must be detail-oriented and able to learn new concepts and apply them quickly.
  • The candidate must be results-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
  • The candidate must be able to work on and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
  • Perform actuarial analyses to provide input for pricing new business and renewals involving mortality, critical illness, and long-term disability benefits.
  • Execute experience studies on group insurance business.
  • Prepare monthly reports on in-force business and analyze the profitability of group and creditor business.
  • Monitor and analyze profitability for each client portfolio.
  • Provide technical actuarial support to group underwriting, corporate actuarial, claims, research, and product development teams.
  • Develop, modify, and run actuarial models to project cash flows, reserves, capital, and embedded values on group treaties for financial reporting.
  • Analyze client information, treaty terms, and reinsurance treaty structures to model inherent risks appropriately.
  • Prepare or review profit-sharing calculations for group experience refund treaties.
  • Assist with pricing projects, including developing business intelligence reports and trend indicators for the group block of business.
  • Perform client-requested or RGA-initiated value-added actuarial services, including reviewing manual rates and pricing factors.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in group insurance or reinsurance is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and AXIS is an asset.
