Requirements
  • 7+ years in IT support/operations, including 2+ years managing a team
  • A player-coach attitude — happy both coaching the team and rolling up your sleeves to show what great looks like
  • Strong customer service and communication skills — you set the tone for how the team treats end users, and teams across the company find you easy to work with
  • Comfortable working directly with executives and senior leadership, including handling sensitive requests with discretion
  • Deep hands-on experience with systems like Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, and Apple fleets managed with MDM tools like Iru (formerly Kandji) or Jamf
Responsibilities
  • Manage, coach and grow our team of IT Support Engineers — hiring, development, and performance
  • Stay hands-on: set the technical bar, teach the team, and take the hardest escalations yourself
  • Own our core IT systems and roadmap: identity and access, device management, Google Workspace, Slack and the rest of our SaaS stack
  • Own IT vendor relationships, procurement and spend — negotiate renewals, cut redundant tooling, keep the stack lean
  • Root out manual, repetitive IT work — and automate it away
  • Run smooth onboarding and offboarding at scale for a distributed team
  • Partner with our Security team on the controls behind our HIPAA compliance and SOC 2 HITRUST certifications
Desired Qualifications
  • Startup experience — especially building or scaling an IT function at a fast-growing company
  • Experience at a healthcare company, where HIPAA and patient data are part of daily life
  • An infosec/security background
  • Hands-on SOC 2 or HITRUST experience: implementing controls, gathering audit evidence, or running parts of the certification process
  • Experience with compliance automation platforms like Vanta or Drata

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • January 8, 2026 funding supports expansion beyond maternity into women's and children's lifelong care.
  • Pomelo said it covers nearly 7% of U.S. births, giving unmatched distribution.
  • April 7, 2026 Koch expansion validates employer demand for doula and midlife care programs.

What critics are saying

  • Payer renewals drive revenue; lost contracts with Elevance or employers would crush growth quickly.
  • Expansion from maternity into midlife and pediatrics dilutes focus while competitors copy virtual care.
  • If utilization-driven savings flatten, Pomelo's value proposition weakens and funding premium collapses within 2027.

What makes Pomelo Care unique

  • Pomelo Care combines 24/7 virtual clinicians with the nation's largest doula network, as of 2026.
  • January 8, 2026 Series C valued Pomelo at $1.7 billion.
  • Peer-reviewed March 12, 2026 studies showed a dose-response outcome improvement across engagement lengths.

CEO raises $92M to expand $1.7B virtual maternal care startup to all women

Pomelo Care, a virtual maternal healthcare startup, has raised $92 million to expand its services beyond pregnancy to cover women at all life stages. The funding comes as founder and CEO Marta Bralic Kerns, a former Flatiron Health executive, seeks to address gaps in women's healthcare. Bralic Kerns founded the company after experiencing disconnected maternal care despite having quality insurance and doctors. She found that personalised care and data-driven guidance were lacking during her own pregnancy. The startup currently focuses on maternal health but plans to use the new capital to broaden its virtual care model. Pomelo Care is valued at $1.7 billion, reflecting investor confidence in improving women's healthcare through technology and data-driven approaches across different life stages.
