Requirements
  • Demonstrated full-stack capability, or strong capability in one direction with genuine competence in the other; pure specialists are not suitable.
  • Comfort owning the full delivery lifecycle, including solution design, production, and iteration.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, including test-driven development, code review discipline, and a commitment to quality.
  • Active engagement with AI-assisted development, including prototyping, agentic coding, and use of AI tooling.
  • Ability to absorb a new domain quickly.
  • Strong written communication, including the ability to write clear proposals, concise technical decision records, and effective stakeholder updates.
  • Comfort contributing to discovery conversations rather than only delivering against a completed brief.
  • Ability to make good decisions with incomplete information and know when to escalate or proceed.
  • Ability to surface problems early, document thinking, and keep stakeholders appropriately informed.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end delivery within the pod, from discovery and problem framing through production, iteration, and outcome measurement.
  • Work directly with curriculum, operations, and delivery stakeholders to understand problems at their root.
  • Shape solutions collaboratively by contributing to proposals, decision records, and discovery conversations.
  • Use AI tooling actively in prototyping, agentic coding, and accelerating delivery, and help the wider team develop the same habits.
  • Maintain a high engineering standard across the pod through test-driven development, code review discipline, and commitment to quality.
  • Coach and support less experienced engineers in the pod.
  • Contribute to the evolution of engineering practices as the pod model matures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with EdTech, regulated industries, or other complex domains.
  • Professional experience with Python, React, or Vue.
  • Experience building, deploying, and maintaining AI systems in production, including taking AI capabilities beyond prototypes to reliable, monitored production services.

What believers are saying

  • August 5, 2026 levy rules restore 100% funding for under-25 apprenticeships.
  • March 2026 University of Kent and June 2026 NHS coverage expand public-sector credibility.
  • May 2026 podcast launches with Jeremy Bradley widen thought-leadership reach and inbound demand.

What critics are saying

  • January 2026 Level 7 funding restrictions cut high-ticket executive-apprenticeship demand immediately.
  • August 2026 modular units compress course lengths, intensifying price competition from faster providers.
  • If government funding shifts, Cambridge Spark loses its core revenue engine.

What makes Cambridge Spark unique

  • EDUKATE.AI gives instant coding feedback in simulated workplaces, strengthening practical learning.
  • Cambridge Spark sells modular apprenticeships from Level 3 to Level 6, not generic courses.
  • Its 2026 AI Leadership and AI Workflow Specialist units target employer-funded workforce transformation.

Cambridge Spark launches new AI research podcast hosted by CAIO, Jeremy Bradley.

Cambridge Spark launches new AI research podcast hosted by CAIO, Jeremy Bradley. Inside the Algorithm debuts on 6th May with an episode exploring how simulation, operational research and AI are reshaping NHS planning. LONDON, 4th May 2026 - Cambridge Spark, a leading provider of data and AI education and upskilling, today announced the launch of Inside the Algorithm, a new podcast hosted by Chief AI Officer Jeremy Bradley. The show launches on 6th May and will publish fortnightly alongside Cambridge Spark's flagship podcast, Data & AI Mastery, in the same feed. Where Data & AI Mastery explores AI transformation at the enterprise and C-suite levels, Inside the Algorithm shifts the lens into the scientific research, technical breakthroughs and academic thinking shaping the future of artificial intelligence. Each episode, Bradley sits down with leading researchers, data scientists and technical experts working at the frontier of the field to democratise access to frontier AI knowledge without diluting its intellectual integrity. The show is designed for an informed, technically ambitious audience, including AI researchers, advanced practitioners building and deploying sophisticated AI systems, and AI leaders seeking a deeper understanding of the science driving innovation in the field. The debut episode features Lucy Morgan, who leads the simulation team at the NHS Strategy Unit and holds a visiting research position in simulation and stochastic modelling at Lancaster University Management School. Morgan is a joint winner of the OR Society Doctoral Award 2019 and recipient of the 2025 KD Tocher Award for best paper in the Journal of Simulation. The conversation explores how operational research, simulation and AI are being combined to address some of the NHS's most complex planning challenges and what it really takes to make an analytical model work in the real world. Central to the discussion is Morgan's work developing a renal replacement therapy planning model, originally built with the Midlands Kidney Network, which is now being rolled out across NHS regions nationally with ambitions to become a UK-wide planning tool by 2029. The episode also examines Morgan's current research focus: model reuse and reproducibility, and specifically how AI could help standardise documentation and build the trust needed to deploy analytical models across new organisations at scale. About Inside the Algorithm Inside the Algorithm is a podcast produced by Cambridge Spark, hosted by Chief AI Officer Jeremy Bradley. New episodes publish fortnightly, alternating with Data & AI Mastery in the same podcast feed. The show is available on all major podcast platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube. | Listen and follow About Cambridge Spark Cambridge Spark is a leading provider of transformational data and AI education, upskilling and career development.
