Role Description:
The Global Onsite Search Technical Strategist serves as a dedicated technical expert within the HP Digital Direct Experience team, focusing on advanced internal search platform implementation, application of search technologies, and results optimization.
As part of the Global Search Performance organization and working closely with Global User Experience, Product, and Experimentation teams, this mission-critical role drives the technical architecture and product enhancements roadmap of our internal search platform capabilities, including iterative functional improvements and relevancy tuning.
Core Responsibilities:
Design and optimize search indexing methodologies and structured metadata
Architect, test, and deploy advanced search algorithms and relevancy models
Develop complex search query processing and results ranking mechanisms
Support robust onsite search analytics and performance monitoring systems
Create and maintain technical documentation for onsite search requirements
Required Education and Experience:
Four-year Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field, commensurate work experience or demonstrated competency
7+ years of hands-on technical experience with enterprise search platforms (Hawksearch, Algolia, Coveo, AddSearch, Elastic, Solr, Bloomreach, or similar)
Proven track record implementing and optimizing search solutions in high-traffic, enterprise ecommerce environments
Deep expertise in search engine relevancy tuning and internal search analytics
Experience with natural language processing and machine learning applications
Preferred Knowledge and Experience:
Advanced knowledge of enterprise search platforms and architectures
Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, or relevant web languages
Experience with modern RESTful APIs, endpoints, and web services
Experience with federated search and conversational search is a plus
Familiarity with agile team collaboration framework and Scrum process
Cross-Organizational Skills:
Consult with Global Product team on technical feasibility of new features
Partner with Global Search team on search engine relevancy models
Advise Global UX team on technical constraints and opportunities
Guide Engineering and Delivery teams on search best practices
Provide Analytics with data standards for search performance
Other Qualifications:

Highly detail-oriented with proven project management and organizational skills
Ability to link roadmap projects and website enhancements to business results
Creativity and curiosity around project planning and process improvement
Strong analytical, problem identification and solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Salary:
The base pay range for this role is $110,000 to $130,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
