Dollar General marks Earth Day with Arbor Day Foundation milestone. Five-year partnership drives reforestation, community recovery and sustainability progress across North America. The retailer said the collaboration has restored more than 848 acres of forest and planted more than 434,000 trees across the United States and Mexico. In fiscal 2025 alone, Dollar General planted more than 137,500 trees as part of broader initiatives tied to its "Serving Others" mission and corporate responsibility strategy. The milestone comes as Dollar General continues to position sustainability as a core operational pillar. The company was recently named to USA Today and Statista's America's Climate Leaders 2026 list, reflecting its efforts to balance environmental impact reduction with the needs of its stores and customers. Over the past five years, the company's tree-planting initiatives have increasingly intersected with community resilience and disaster recovery efforts, reinforcing the role of retail in local environmental stewardship. In Nashville, Tennessee, Dollar General partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation and CHEP USA to support the restoration of the city's tree canopy after damage from Winter Storm Fern. The effort aligns with Root Nashville's goal to plant 500,000 trees across Davidson County, with expected benefits such as reduced stormwater runoff, improved air quality, and lower urban temperatures. The company has also supported recovery in Bowling Green, Kentucky, after the December 2021 tornadoes. In partnership with the local nonprofit Operation PRIDE, Dollar General helped distribute trees and mulch to residents, contributing to rebuilding and neighborhood revitalization. Internationally, the partnership has expanded to environmental preservation initiatives in Mexico. In 2024 and 2025, Dollar General supported projects to protect the monarch butterfly's habitat near Mexico City, including planting 12,500 trees in key migratory areas. Urban greening has been another focus area. In Miami-Dade County, Florida, Dollar General partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation and Million Trees Miami to distribute 250 trees to local residents, supporting efforts to expand tree canopy coverage and improve environmental conditions.
