Requirements
  • Minimum three years’ experience supervising up to 3 warehouse employees, preferably in a distribution center environment.
  • Building material experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for customer service, hiring, training, motivating, and developing staff, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Proven experience in coaching and training staff.
  • Good computer skills with demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain an efficient and safe warehouse while meeting customer service levels and achieving inventory integrity.
  • Plan and oversee the flow of inbound and outbound products to ensure cost-effective movement while meeting customer expectations and company standards.
  • Ensure order picking and shipping levels are sufficient and inventory discrepancies are minimized so customers receive complete orders in perfect condition with on-time deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario health and safety regulations and corporate safety guidelines.
  • Work with the Branch Supervisor to review and improve operating procedures related to customer service levels, warehouse safety, cleanliness, and capacity.
  • Manage operational equipment, maximize efficiency, and ensure fleet maintenance follows company standards.
  • Maintain the warehouse’s upkeep, maintenance, and security.
  • Review invoices, orders, vacation schedules, and demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Investigate and resolve external and internal customer issues and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and implement company policies and standard operating procedures as required.
  • Work with purchasing staff to identify and correct inventory accuracy issues.
  • Supervise a team of up to 3 warehouse employees.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment and team atmosphere.
  • Create work schedules, assign tasks to warehouse staff, and manage labor costs such as overtime.
  • Coordinate job training and safety training for applicable employees.
  • Apply discipline when needed to bring performance or behavior to expected levels.
  • Conduct yearly employee performance reviews and mid-year performance discussions with applicable staff.
  • Address employee issues fairly and consistently.

Doman Building Materials posts $3.1B revenue, up 17%, EBITDA surges 33%

Doman Building Materials Group reported annual revenue of $3.12 billion for 2025, up 17.1% from $2.66 billion in 2024. The Canadian building materials distributor achieved a gross margin of 16.2% and EBITDA of $256.4 million, representing a 33.4% increase year-over-year. Net earnings rose to $80.3 million from $54.2 million in 2024. The company generated $163.6 million in cash flow from operating activities and paid $49 million in dividends throughout the year, maintaining a quarterly dividend of $0.14 per share. However, expenses increased 13.9% to $349.1 million due to inflationary pressures and acquisition costs. Finance costs rose by $19.1 million to $72.9 million. The company attributed strong performance to effective margin enhancement strategies, including improved lumber positioning and freight optimisation technology.
