Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (technical major preferred)
  • 7+ years of software-related program or product management experience preferably with digital businesses.
  • 4+ yrs experience developing multi-year operating strategies including financial forecasts of costs and benefits for technical products
  • 3+ yrs experience with product portfolio management, including scale, evolve or sunset decision analysis and recommendation ownership
  • Demonstrated experience with influencing senior business management.
  • Evidence-driven analytical mindset that prefers measurable outcomes to hyperbole
  • Demonstrated success developing and market-testing new products that grow businesses
  • Experience in digital advertising, mobile apps and/or web-based technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with some form of software programming, whether scripting, SQL, analytics or advanced languages
  • Experience with data analytics systems (relational databases, dashboarding tools)
  • Previous executive leadership experience focused on digital operations, product development and/or technology platform development
Responsibilities
  • Lead Commercial Product Innovation: Drive the development of an exclusive, and performant commercial product portfolio, including front-end ad formats and backend data, audience & identity and brand safety offerings that deliver on client business objectives, differentiate Dow Jones in the marketplace, and deliver significant digital revenue growth.
  • Optimize the Advertising Experience: Ensure Dow Jones’ ad platforms, both on web and app, provide an optimized experience for consumers while delivering elevated, best-in-class ad products for marketers. Drive a balanced ad footprint with accountability for web vitals for consumers and revenue yield for the commercial business.
  • Develop Internal Data Utilities: Lead the development of advanced analytics applications that provide the commercial team with valuable, actionable insights. Provide commercial teams with improved access to advertising and consumer behavior data that contextualizes Dow Jones’ unique consumer behavior, supports campaign optimization, and informs data-driven business decisions. Monitor critical metrics to proactively improve yield, maximize revenue capacity, and mitigate risks of revenue loss.
  • Drive Operational Efficiency: Implement and oversee automation technologies that streamline internal processes, improving the productivity of the digital operations and client success teams. Identify opportunities to deploy new and improved tool sets that augment go-to-market and campaign lifecycles. Partner with commercial teams to make strategic investment decisions for critical enterprise functions, including but not limited to management systems, business intelligence, ad serving and verification, brand safety, consent tech and data management, making calculated decisions between licensed software and home-grown tech.
  • Execute Commercial Leadership Priorities: Act as a vital bridge between the commercial leadership team and technology, ensuring the alignment of market needs and client feedback with the product development roadmap. Streamline communication channels to enhance decision-making and execution speed.
  • Mitigate Regulatory Risks: Lead the deployment of privacy and compliance technologies that ensure adherence to evolving regulatory standards. Collaborate across internal teams to deliver solutions that protect user data while maintaining business agility.
  • Scale Across Platforms & Brands: Oversee all advertising-related technology for WSJ|Barron’s Group digital publications. Drive integration and collaboration with other Dow Jones and NewsCorp business units to leverage potential synergies in technology and operations for the company.
