Mechanical Designer / CAD Administrator 

Redwood Materials is seeking an entrepreneurial Mechanical Designer & CAD Administrator to support research and development, pilot projects, and commercial scale production operations at our facility. This role will include implementation of software packages and creating standard processes to support future engineering and facilities work at Redwood Materials.  This individual will be critical as we grow with roll out of new systems along with administration of existing programs.

Responsibilities will include:

• Utilize 3D and 2D CAD software to create drawings & models for the basic and detailed engineering projects at Redwood Materials.
• Be proficient in the use of Autodesk software including but not limited to Smart Plant 3D, Smart P&ID, Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit, & Vault.
• Provide PDM system support for standard practices, revision control, and controlled PDF generation.
• Take conceptual designs, sketches, and ideas from engineers to develop the details necessary for a complete, engineered drawing capable of being used for fabrication, erection in the field, design analysis, etc.
• Setup of CAD systems and processes for growing engineering design and PDM.
• Perform checking of drawings for consistency with conceptual ideas, design, sketches, etc.
• Draft and manage Smart P&ID drawings from PFD drawings with input from engineers and Vendor drawings.
• Manage Smart P&ID databases and create engineering lists (equipment, instrument, motor, etc.).
• Utilize P&IDs to design basic piping routings and check designs from others.
• Layout of piping systems, pipe routing, equipment, and utility systems for industrial projects.
• Support engineering staff with integrated engineering simulation tools (thermal, structural, CFD).
• Support facilities staff with integration of designs to construction and operation.

Desired Qualifications.

• A.S. degree in mechanical or industrial discipline or 5+ years’ experience in similar field.
• Advanced computer skills.
• Advanced 3D modeling skills.
• Database experience for incorporation of engineering and process data into P&IDs & 3D Models.
• Working knowledge of industrial systems including piping, electrical, equipment layout, water treatment, material handling, and gas handling systems.
• Excellent technical writing and interpersonal skills.
• Working knowledge of piping systems used in various industrial applications with an ability to read piping isometrics.
• Familiarity with relevant drafting standards.
