Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • Experience in collegiate athletics administration, coaching, or a related administrative leadership position at an educational or other social institution is required.
  • Familiarity with National Junior College Athletic Association regulations, compliance, and eligibility standards is required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high academic standards for student-athletes is required.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral, interpersonal, and written skills with diverse internal and external college constituencies is required.
  • Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities is required.
  • Personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment are required.
  • Awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests are required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, management, and administration of the athletic program to support student engagement and development.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and support athletic department personnel, including coaching staff and student aides, and participate in recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Participate in and support coaching staff recruitment efforts for student-athletes in the external community and area high schools as appropriate.
  • Oversee the Senate Gymnasium or delegate responsibilities as needed.
  • Budget and manage the financial administration of athletic programs, including responsible use of allocated student fees.
  • Monitor and support compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association, Region XV, and Mid-Hudson Conference requirements and standards, including weekly statistical reports and athlete eligibility.
  • Manage game-day statistics for region and conference games and facilitate game statistics.
  • Analyze athlete participation and assess ways to improve participation and academic success with coaches and others across the College.
  • Manage the Athletics Department schedule for athletic events and practices with head coaches, including practice and game schedules.
  • Coordinate staff for home athletic events, including student aide coverage, and act as on-site supervisor for home athletic events as needed.
  • Maintain and update the Athletics website and serve as the primary liaison between the College, Ardor Sports, RefQuest, the National Junior College Athletic Association, Region XV, and the Mid-Hudson Conference.
  • Act as the Athletics Health Care Administrator, including serving as the primary contact for health care and safety communications with the National Junior College Athletic Association, maintaining accreditation with USCAH, managing CPR/AED certifications for coaches and staff, and administering concussion education training for student-athletes.
  • Work with Institutional Advancement on Athletics fundraising.
  • Provide information to Marketing for promoting Athletics programs and update social media platforms with game recaps and upcoming events.
  • Provide additional services as deemed necessary by the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.
