Boomi vs Zapier: which one is actually for you (and when neither is).

Boomi vs Zapier: which one is actually for you (and when neither is). Boomi and Zapier both "connect your apps," but they are built for different people and break at different points. Here is a plain comparison - connector model, transforms, data volume, governance, and price - plus the moment teams outgrow both and want the work done for them. Search "Boomi vs Zapier" and you will find people comparing two tools that are only superficially alike. Both promise to "connect your apps," but they are aimed at different buyers and fail at different points. The honest answer to "which should I use?" usually depends on who is doing the work and how much data moves. Where Zapier fits. Zapier is the right tool when a non-technical person needs to wire up SaaS apps quickly: add a new form submission to a spreadsheet, post a Slack message when a deal closes, copy a contact between two marketing tools. It is fast, self-serve, and cheap at low volume. It starts to hurt when the automations get branchy, the data volume climbs, or a "task" fires thousands of times a day and the bill follows. Where Boomi fits. Boomi is an enterprise iPaaS for IT teams: connecting ERPs, warehouses, and on-prem systems, handling EDI and master data, running high-volume flows with real governance. It is far more capable than Zapier - and far heavier. You need integration skills to build in it, an annual contract to buy it, and usually a specialist or partner to maintain it. The catch buyers hit. The uncomfortable middle is real: Zapier is too light for the integration you actually need, and Boomi (like MuleSoft or Workato) means licensing a platform and staffing someone to run it. You are choosing between "not enough" and "a project." Most teams just want the integration to exist and keep working - they do not want to become integration engineers or sign a six-figure platform deal to get there. A third option: describe it, Weldforge build and run it. Weldforge is integration as a managed service. You describe what you want connected in plain English; its platform AI drafts the field-by-field mapping, and Weldforge build it, host it, and run it for a flat monthly fee - no platform to license, no engineers on your side, and a live dashboard so you can see it working. It is the outcome Boomi gives you without the platform overhead, and the reliability Zapier cannot at scale.

Citycare Property cuts onboarding times and streamlines HR processes with Boomi.

Citycare Property cuts onboarding times and streamlines HR processes with Boomi. Boomi | Published 26 May 2026 Boomi enables New Zealand infrastructure company to modernise employee management processes, unifying data across systems and accelerating workforce onboarding Boomi, the data activation company, today announced Citycare Property has streamlined its HR and employee management processes using the Boomi Enterprise Platform, resulting in faster onboarding times, improved data quality, and increased employee satisfaction. Citycare Property is a New Zealand-owned social infrastructure organisation that delivers critical services - building, maintaining, operating, and renewing essential infrastructure - to central and local governments nationwide. To support continuing growth and business evolution, Citycare Property wanted to modernise its human resources processes and systems. Citycare Property implemented a new Human Resources Information System (HRIS) platform. The organisation needed to ensure employee management processes were seamless across all systems - including HR, payroll, and IT platforms - while also having a consistent, unified view of its workforce. This connectivity would ensure high data integrity and security standards were met while supporting efficient onboarding, offboarding, and ongoing HR operations. Citycare Property engaged Boomi partner Adaptiv to identify and implement a solution to provide that connectivity. Adam Doocey, CIO, Citycare Property "Onboarding a new hire, setting up their account, and getting them active in our systems used to eat up days of work," said Adam Doocey, CIO, Citycare Property. "Prior to doing the integrations, visibility into where someone was in the process wasn't always straightforward. The Adaptiv team was willing to set the technology aside and talk to our people." To address Citycare Property's integration challenges, Adaptiv implemented the Boomi Enterprise Platform's Data Hub and Integration capabilities. This established a single, unified view of each employee across all platforms, introducing a consistent framework and meaningfully improving the accuracy and reliability of its workforce data changes - onboarding, role transitions, offboarding - regardless of the platform in use. All updates are automatically reflected across HR, payroll, and IT systems, enabling efficient, secure changes without disrupting day-to-day operations, which provides a scalable foundation to support future growth. "We felt that Boomi, with its integration and master data capabilities, was a great fit for Citycare because it enabled us to put the employee at the centre of the integration," said Philip Durrant, Principal Consultant, Adaptiv. "Use of the Boomi platform balanced the immediate requirements of the project with a future facing view for Citycare by enabling additional systems to be plugged into Boomi Data Hub with minimal rework to the original system as delivered." By centralising and synchronising data across all platforms, Boomi delivered measurable improvements across Citycare Property's HR function. Onboarding timelines were reduced, enabling new employees to be activated in systems far more quickly and efficiently. Meanwhile, HR processes became notably smoother and more dependable, which was noticed by employees as their satisfaction increased. "Boomi has given us a degree of visibility that we've never had before," said Doocey. "We've seen an improvement in the time it takes to get an employee from registering in our HR system to being active across all of our systems. We've also seen a real lift in data quality in the downstream systems - historically, when issues arose, staff would often work around them by manually adjusting the data. Implementing Boomi has put an end to that practice." David Irecki, Chief Technology Officer, APJ at Boomi, said, "Citycare Property has proven that putting the employee at the centre of your integration strategy delivers real, measurable results for the entire organisation. In partnership with Adaptiv, Boomi is proud to support Citycare's workforce modernisation and provide the data foundation that keeps their operations running smoothly."

Okta unveils new framework to manage AI agents and upcoming Okta for AI Agents platform

Okta unveils new framework to manage AI agents and upcoming Okta for AI Agents platform. Identity access management company Okta Inc. today announced a new framework designed to help organizations secure the growing use of artificial intelligence agents inside enterprise environments, alongside providing details of a forthcoming platform called Okta for AI Agents that aims to implement the model in practice. The new framework, described as a blueprint for the secure agentic enterprise, is designed to help organizations answer three foundational questions as AI agents become more widely deployed: where agents are running, what systems they can connect to and what actions they can perform. "AI agents are evolving faster than any software before them, making traditional security models obsolete," explains Ric Smith, president of products and technology at Okta. "With this new blueprint, Okta is establishing the industry standard for the secure agentic enterprise." With the blueprint, organizations first need to identify and inventory every agent operating in their environment, including unofficial or shadow agents created by employees using external tools. To support that goal, Okta is expanding its Universal Directory so that AI agents can be registered as nonhuman identities with defined ownership and lifecycle management. The framework emphasizes centralized control over the resources that agents can access through features such as an agent gateway and application programming interface access management. The blueprint also focuses on governing what agents are actually allowed to do once connected to enterprise systems. Okta's platform logs agent activity, including tool usage and authorization decisions, to allow organizations to monitor behavior and detect anomalies. If an agent deviates from its intended task or accesses sensitive data unexpectedly, organizations can immediately revoke its permissions using a universal logout mechanism designed to act as a centralized kill switch. Okta for AI Agents, which will become generally available on April 30, uses the framework announced today to provide the operational capabilities needed to enforce controls. The platform will allow organizations to discover and register AI agents, manage their access to enterprise systems and revoke that access if an agent behaves unexpectedly. The platform is designed to integrate with existing enterprise agent development and orchestration platforms. Okta for AI Agents will also include tools designed to detect unauthorized shadow agents created by employees connecting third-party AI tools to enterprise systems. Using the service, security teams will be able to identify those agents, evaluate their permissions and apply baseline governance controls. To support Okta for AI Agents, Okta is also expanding its Okta Integration Network, which currently includes more than 8,000 integrations, to support AI agent platforms such as those from Boomi Inc. and DataRobot In. The integrations will allow organizations to register AI agents as governed identities, assign human ownership and apply centralized access policies. "Securing the agentic enterprise will require industry-wide collaboration," said Carl Siva, chief information security officer at Boomi. "By combining Boomi's expertise in agentic connectivity and modern integration with Okta's identity leadership, we are delivering a unified security and governance layer that helps organizations harden their security posture while maintaining auditable visibility into every agent's actions." Okta argues that treating AI agents as first-class identities will become essential as enterprises increasingly deploy autonomous software capable of executing workflows, accessing sensitive data and interacting with multiple applications without direct human oversight.
