Director Industrial Automation 

You will manage a team of controls engineers and system analysts that work on Redwood’s battery materials manufacturing and recycling processes.  The scope includes setting the strategy for and execution against all levels of industrial automation across production processes & control systems (Sensors & PLC’s), supervisory systems (HMI & SCADA), manufacturing systems (MES, LIMS), and business planning/logistics (WMS, TMS, ERP).  You will own project outputs including deliverables and schedules.  You will interact with peer and executive management across the organization.  Naturally, you will also play a key role in recruiting and retention of top talent.  You will be working in a startup culture. If necessary, the job level will be adjusted to suit the applicant’s experience and responsibilities.   

Responsibilities will include:

• Strategy and oversight for various industrial automation programs including chemical processes, material flow, and robotics systems.
• Continuously seek methods to improve operations through.
• Recruit for and scale team of talented controls engineers and business system analysts/engineers.
• Coordinate with IT and Software teams to ensure optimized and resilient platforms for operational technologies.
• Coordinate with other engineering teams and external vendors on process design, control panel builds, and optimizing operations.
• Implementation and operations of key automated controls systems, ensuring resilient and efficient automation is in place with appropriate safety measures in place.
• Implementation and operations of critical business systems, working with various departments across the organization to ensure effective data integration and automation is in place for things including work order management, warehouse management, lab sampling, and quality controls.

Desired Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical, Software, Controls, or other relevant Engineering discipline.
• Rigorous control and systems engineering capabilities.
• Automated test and verification methods.
• Industry standard development, deployment, and repository tools.
• Extensive experience in process automation & manufacturing.
• Oversight of business process systems (SCADA, MES, ERP).
