Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and admissions advisement to prospective and admitted CCEESS students and, when appropriate, their family members, including guidance on admission criteria, Honor Code expectations, curriculum, transfer planning, career and graduate-school exploration, and alternative educational opportunities.
  • Help students build and implement educational plans aligned with their academic, career, and life goals; provide strategic registration guidance; recommend courses; and support students through registration and other university processes.
  • Monitor student progress and retention, identify students who are not making satisfactory progress, create Academic Improvement Plans when required, and determine appropriate outreach, support, referrals, and follow-up.
  • Research and provide accurate information on university resources and student aid, including financial aid, scholarships, BGS or FlexGE assistance, campus attendance options, and other services; assist with petitions, substitutions, capstone registration approval, and graduation-clearance recommendations.
  • Maintain current advising resources and records, access confidential student information through university databases such as AIM and MyMap, and ensure advising practices meet applicable university, CCEESS, and professional standards while adhering to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act requirements.
  • Conduct assessment and research on advising issues and successful practices; contribute student feedback to annual program assessment; assist faculty and Continuing Education staff with advising-related issues; and support department operations.
  • Manage student outreach and connection efforts, including deadline and registration communications, weekly newsletter coordination, semester contact efforts, student council advising, and in-person and online new-student orientation and community activities.
  • Plan and participate in recruitment and outreach events such as booths, college fairs, high-school events, university activities, and community events; build relationships that encourage student engagement and retention.
  • Support department financial-assistance and scholarship processes, assist with training and supervision of student advisors, and serve as a backup for full-time advisors and program administrators.
