Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of clinical, quality, or management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
  • Support quality and compliance program initiatives for the Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
  • Ensure consistent quality and compliance programs and standards within the department by following division standards and protocols.
  • Communicate and ensure enforcement of applicable federal and state regulatory requirements and industry standards to laboratory leadership and staff.
  • Monitor department compliance with quality and compliance procedures and programs.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to promote regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate audits, inspections, and monitoring visits from customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor the Quality Assurance and Compliance Program for UR Medicine Labs and affiliates.
  • Conduct internal audits, prepare audit reports, track internal audit responses, and monitor and document corrective actions at all sites.
  • Assist in developing section-specific quality assurance and compliance plans and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to develop quality monitors in accordance with industry standards.
  • Monitor Focused Professional Practice Evaluation and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation programs.
  • Coordinate data submission and review of department standard metrics.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding audit outcomes, data analysis, and departmental key indicators, including Clinical Trials project-specific indicators.
  • Support billing compliance activities as needed.
  • Monitor occurrence management initiatives and assist staff in developing quality improvement plans.
  • Assist in developing Corrective Action and Preventive Action plans.
  • Track the progress of Corrective Action and Preventive Action and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide department management with regular updates on quality systems initiatives.
  • Participate in developing and executing the UR Medicine Lab Quality and Compliance Plans.
  • Assist in developing department policies and procedures.
  • Assist with preparing the yearly Quality and Compliance Report.
  • Monitor the document management process and ensure documents and records comply with UR Medicine Labs policy and state and federal guidelines.
  • Maintain documents and records according to protocol requirements and state and federal healthcare standards.
  • Assist with external audit schedules and track corrective action plans related to audit findings.
  • Maintain current knowledge of developing trends in quality systems methods, state and federal regulations, and incorporate them into department programs.
  • Research state and federal regulations and current industry standards to provide guidance on compliance and best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments of current processes against regulations and industry standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
