VGS is looking for an engineering manager based in the US to lead our Managed File Tokenization (MFT) team. If you are an experienced engineering manager who has led a SaaS development team, or a technical / team lead, or a software architect looking to take a leap into the world of engineering management, we would love to speak with you. Reporting to the head of application engineering at VGS, you will be working hand-in-hand with the product team, the architecture team, and the heads of infrastructure and security, to make advancements for our MFT product line, which is used by some of VGS’ largest customers. An ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience and passion for delivering enterprise-grade, mission critical products with a high level of quality, reliability, and security in an agile development environment.

What you will be doing at VGS

• You’ll manage all things engineering for a relatively small (3-5 people) autonomous team that builds the software components & operates the service in production.
• Collaborate with Product Management to create the team’s quarterly plan, informed by the team’s capacity and estimated unplanned workload. Convert the quarterly plan to Sprint deliverables, working in concert with the Program Management Office.
• Tightly manage the unplanned work streams for your team: incidents, customer reported defects, internally reported defects, etc. and report on its impact to planned deliverables.
• Collaborate with teams that are here to support you, such as infrastructure & security, to resolve any dependencies and contribute to the success of your product line.
• Drive architecture / technical design for the team’s technology initiatives in concert with the in-house architecture crew and, if applicable, with partners, such as AWS’ solution architects.
• Engage in all phases / processes of the SDLC - architecture, development, test, deployment, monitoring and supporting your team’s services in production.
• Maintain a culture of code quality through rigorous testing,  automation, and code reviews.
• Hire / grow, coach, mentor, and develop a team of hardworking and motivated engineers. You will “lead from the front”, i.e. communicate in written and verbal forms in the various avenues that we have for leaders to be able to do that.

What we are looking for from you (Requirements)

• 3+ years of industry experience as an engineering manager of or 5+ years as a technical / team lead / architect in an enterprise SaaS team.
• Passion for engineering management, and your proclivity for continuous improvement in people, process, and technology, to help make the team a better version of itself.
• Experience working in a complex mesh of microservices written in Java / Python, messaging platforms like Kafka, and data platforms with enterprise-grade requirements on performance, scale, security, and availability.
• Deep understanding of Agile (Scrum) and DevOps (CI/CD) practices and experience with modern SaaS toolchain in a public cloud environment, preferably AWS. Experience with containers and container orchestration based delivery paradigms, preferably Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of API fundamentals, event-driven architectures, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Modern SaaS operational track record, such as defining & maintaining SLAs, familiarity with monitoring / alerting / notification tools such as for observability, paging, and status page.
• Experience working under the umbrella of compliance frameworks such as SOC2 and PCI.

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $180,000 - $205,000 per year. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
