Requirements
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in receiving, inventory, warehouse, or logistics operations.
  • Experience using inventory, enterprise resource planning, or procurement software and comfort working in spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work on foot in a warehouse environment, move and handle parts and equipment, and lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work five days per week from the San Leandro headquarters and be based in or relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities
  • Receive inbound shipments by unboxing, inspecting, and reconciling deliveries against packing slips and purchase orders in Silkline.
  • Log received parts into ION inventory and maintain accurate quantities, locations, and records through cycle counts and audits.
  • Develop and roll out inventory management and controls processes in a highly iterative research and development environment.
  • Organize and maintain the stockroom and warehouse by labeling, binning, and staging parts.
  • Kit and stage materials for each system build in coordination with engineering and technician teams.
  • Maintain tools, hardware, and consumables for engineering and technician teams and apply basic 5S organization to shop and storage areas.
  • Coordinate outbound and system logistics, including freight and parcel shipments, shipping paperwork, and delivery of systems and spare parts to job sites.
  • Support international and export logistics for shipments to overseas projects.
  • Partner with procurement and supply chain teams to flag shortages, track incoming orders, and maintain material flow.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience operating forklifts or telehandlers; certification is a plus.
  • Experience with outbound freight, shipping and receiving operations, or export and international logistics.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, hardware, or robotics environment.
  • Experience working at a fast-paced startup.
  • Supply chain or purchasing coordination experience.

Charge Robotics raises $22M to automate utility-scale solar farm construction

Charge Robotics, founded by MIT alumni Banks Hunter and Max Justicz, has raised $22 million to deploy its portable robotic factories for utility-scale solar farm assembly. The company plans to begin commercial installations later in 2025. The factories automate solar panel installation, which currently relies on manual labour. In early 2024, Charge deployed a prototype system with SOLV Energy, successfully building a working solar farm. The system works like a portable assembly line. Steel tracks, mounting brackets, and panels are loaded in, and the factory robotically assembles them into 40-foot sections. A robotic vehicle positions each completed bay in the field. Solar accounted for 81% of new US electric capacity added in 2024, but labour shortages constrain growth. Charge's system allows multiple factories to run simultaneously at sites, completing projects faster without expanding the workforce.
