Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience coordinating youth and/or adult sports programs, preferably in a community, school, or recreational setting.
Experience recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating program staff and volunteers.
Knowledge of sports rules, safety protocols, and best practices in youth sports development.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and events simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with participants, families, staff, and community partners.
Ability to enforce rules and maintain discipline in a respectful and consistent manner.
Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) and familiarity with program registration software preferred.
Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire.

Responsibilities
Plan, Organize, and Implement Sports Programs – Develop and oversee youth and adult sports leagues, clinics, tournaments, and special events that align with YMCA’s mission and community needs.
Recruit, Train, and Supervise Staff and Volunteers – Support hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of coaches, referees, and volunteers to ensure quality and safe program delivery.
Ensure Participant Safety and Positive Experience – Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants by enforcing YMCA policies, safety guidelines, and sportsmanship standards.
Manage Equipment and Facilities – Oversee the setup, maintenance, and inventory of sports equipment and coordinate facility usage to optimize program flow and member access.
Engage Community and Promote Programs – Collaborate with schools, community groups, and partners to increase program awareness, registration, and participation. Assist with marketing and outreach efforts, including flyers, social media, and events.
Monitor Program Budgets and Attendance – Track enrollment, budget expenses, and program revenues; provide regular reports and recommend improvements or new offerings based on community interest and trends.
Support Youth Development and Leadership – Foster positive youth development by mentoring participants and creating opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and skill building within sports programs.
Coordinate Special Events and Tournaments – Plan and execute sports-related special events, championship games, and award ceremonies to enhance member engagement and community involvement.
Maintain Records and Ensure Compliance – Keep accurate records of participants, staff certifications, incident reports, and ensure programs meet all YMCA standards and local regulations.
Promote YMCA Values and Culture – Model and promote the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in all interactions with members, staff, and community.
