What believers are saying

  • Expansion to 9 campuses across three states demonstrates replicable model and market demand.
  • After-school and community programs create recurring revenue streams beyond tuition.
  • Public charter funding provides stable, predictable per-pupil revenue independent of parent ability-to-pay.

What critics are saying

  • NC charter school funding cuts eliminate per-pupil allocations Movement Schools depends on.
  • Teacher retention crisis: 30-40% annual turnover as wages stagnate amid 8-12% COL increases.
  • Universal Pre-K expansion by CMS or state eliminates tuition model, forcing quality-only competition.

What makes Movement Schools unique

  • Tuition-free public charter model across 9 schools in NC, SC, Georgia since 2022.
  • Integrated community programming: healthcare, housing, financial management, employment mentoring year-round.
  • Small-class personalized instruction with on-site behavior counselors and mental health advisors.
