Job Summary:
Monroe Carell Jr Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is a nationally ranked acute care children’s teaching hospital and entity of Vanderbilt Medical Center in beautiful Nashville, TN.
As the Director of Case Management at Monroe Carrel Jr. Children’s Hospital, you will provide leadership for the coordination of healthcare services for children through the continuum of care. Through people management, provider relations, and reporting out on key data metrics you will be an integral part of this interdisciplinary team. Along with a master’s degree and RN license, the ideal candidate will have a record of success leading a team, experience with the pediatric patient population, and hold a professional nursing certification in leadership, care coordination, or clinical care.
This is a full-time position based on-site at Monroe Carrel Jr. Children’s Hospital with options to work remotely up to 50% of the time each week, after successful completion of the orientation period. We also offer a competitive salary and excellent benefit options.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Integrating the service into the organization’s primary functions
• Coordinating and integrating interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
• Ensure the most effective operations of the department through program development, process improvement and coordination/integration of processes with other departments.
• Assure successful implementation of clinical programs through systems and process design by integrating the design of the clinical programs with the needs of the community and other target populations.
• Analyze an monitor work processes to optimize productivity and meet targets.
• Standardize services, processes, resources, and practices where appropriate to improve efficiency maximizing continuity of patient care while maintaining professional standards within disciplines and across Patient Care Centers.
• Ensures all Human Resource and VUMC policies and procedures are followed according to standards.
• Create a culture to enhance leadership development, and collaboration among departments and physicians to enhance the growth and communication for the Department of Case Management.
• Works within a Shared Governance framework to identify and address issues, solve problems, and evaluate outcomes. Participate on committees to address system problems/issues and facilitate information exchange.
• Create an organizational culture (both within and across departments) that provides a safe, satisfying and enriching environment for employees and provides a qualified, competent staff to meet patient needs.
• Participate in establishing service standards for the department.
• Utilize customer satisfaction, best practices and market information to improve customer service and satisfaction.
• Create and exceed service standards utilizing key service dimension and from knowledge of patient/customer expectations and best practice.
• Identify, establish and evaluate quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures within department.
• Orienting and providing in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department
• Recommending space and other resources needed by the department, and participating in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or organization
• Establishing yearly goals and objectives for assigned units, reviewing each on a quarterly basis;
• Conducting unit conferences to clarify goals and objectives and evaluating progress towards achieving them
• Interviewing and recommending hiring potential patient care services employees
• Identifying employee related problems; initiating and documenting appropriate performance management
• Promoting positive customer service
• Established performance improvement program for assigned unit(s) in conjunction with Performance Improvement Committee
• Acts as role model for shift managers, other Patient Care Services personnel, and student nurses on assigned units
• Coordinates and/or participates in Performance Improvement Teams as necessary
• Arranges and coordinates designated committee meetings according to hospital policy
• Ensures that the educational needs of all patients are met
• Performs other duties as assigned
